What to Do When Your Skincare Routine Stops Working

woman skincare routine

Has your ever-reliable skincare routine suddenly stopped working for you? While this can seem disastrous at first, there’s usually a simple reason behind it, as well as an easy fix. Read on as OROGOLD talks through the signs that indicate that your skincare routine isn’t quite cutting it anymore, while sharing tips on how to tweak things so that your routine can once again focus on restoring your skin’s radiance.

Signs That Your Skincare Routine Has Stopped Working

The most prevalent sign that your skincare routine isn’t working? You won’t be seeing any improvements in your complexion anymore, no matter how great your products may be or how consistently you’re using them. However, here are some other clues that indicate that your skincare routine is no longer meeting the mark:

If you can relate to any of the above, it’s time to figure out what the problem is…

Start With Your Skin Type

24K Mousse Cleanser

While this may seem like an obvious one, don’t skip over this section because you assume that you already know what your skin type is. Skin types change, meaning that if you haven’t recently reassessed your skin type, your skin’s needs may now be different from what you’ve previously been dealing with. While we’re going to be sharing plenty of great advice in this article, none of it will make a difference to your skincare routine if you continue to use products that aren’t suitable for your skin type.

If it has been a while since you’ve assessed your skin type, start by cleansing with a gentle cleanser that’s suitable for all skin types. The OROGOLD 24K Mousse Cleanser is perfect for this. Then, wait for 30 minutes after rinsing your cleanser off. After this, take a close look in the mirror – your skin should resemble one of the following skin types:

Once you’ve re-identified your skin type, take a good look at the products in your skincare routine, examining those ingredient lists. Make sure that each product is suitable for your skin type, swapping out any that aren’t. This simple move will make a huge difference when it comes to how effective your skincare routine is.

Take the Weather Into Account

Vitamin-C-Cleanser

Your skin is significantly influenced by environmental conditions, one being the weather. Climatic changes can cause your skin’s needs to quickly shift. If your skincare routine isn’t being adjusted alongside this, then it will stop working in the way that it should.

How, exactly, does the weather affect your skin? Let’s start with heat and humidity. Not only do they trigger an increase in oil production, but they’ll also cause you to sweat more. This means that you may need to swap your regular cleanser for a more powerful formula, like the OROGOLD 24K Vitamin C Facial Cleanser. You may even want to consider double cleansing if your skin feels particularly greasy and sweaty. It’s important to keep the rest of your skincare routine light and minimal too. In hot conditions, pores end up clogged much faster.

On the other hand, if your skin has suddenly found itself in cold and dry conditions, it will be desperate for some extra moisture. Your skin barrier will also be crying out for some support. One way to respond is by adding a thicker moisturizer to your skincare routine, like the OROGOLD 24K Deep Moisturizer. Not only will it give your skin the moisture boost it needs, but it will also do a better job, compared to a lighter cream, of locking in all of your other skincare products. This allows them to work to their full potential, rather than evaporating away.

Double Check Your Layering

24K Purifying Toner

A skincare routine needs to be carried out in a certain order. While getting this order wrong isn’t necessarily going to do any damage to your skin, it will certainly hinder the efficacy of the products you’re applying.

Generally, you should always layer your products from thinnest to thickest. This means that after cleansing your skin, move on to the more watery formulas in your routine, like a toner or essence. Then, layer on the serums you’re using – again, if you’re using a few serums, start with the lightest and finish with the heaviest. Finally, lock everything in with the thickest product in your routine – a moisturizer.

Even if your layering is on point, the amount of time that you wait in between each layer could be affecting your routine. Don’t follow up with the next product too quickly – you need to give each product some time to absorb first. However, don’t wait too long either! Ideally, your skin should be slightly damp from the previous product before you apply the next.

Are You Using Too Many Products?

If you’re contemplating whether or not you’re going wrong with your layering, this could be a sign that you’re simply using too many products. Layering skincare isn’t usually complicated, unless you’re working with a long line of different products.

Yes, some people have success with long skincare routines. However, for the most part, these long routines take a toll on the skin over time. They end up damaging the skin barrier to the point where it becomes easily irritated by products that it was once tolerating without any issues.

If your skincare routine is suddenly making your skin feel more sensitive, simplifying your regimen could be the solution. Take out any non-essential products for now, and try to swap your single-purpose products for multitasking formulas wherever possible.

Aging Will Take a Toll at Some Point

String Lift Sculpting System

While aging may not be enjoyable to think about, it’s important to recognize how the aging process will affect your skin. Even before you notice the visible signs of aging, like fine lines and wrinkles, your skin’s collagen fibers will start to weaken, and thinning will begin to occur. If this process has begun for you (and it begins earlier than many realize – usually when you’re in your early 20s), but your skincare routine hasn’t adjusted to cater for it, then your skincare routine will no longer be giving your skin what it needs.

What changes should you make?

Start by compensating for the dehydration that your skin is or will be dealing with. As the skin thins with age, moisture loss increases. Counter this by incorporating plenty of hydrating ingredients in your skincare routine. The OROGOLD String Lift Sculpting System, which features several forms of hyaluronic acid, is great for giving the skin a moisture boost.

Certain skincare products will also help to give the skin the nutrients it needs as it ages. With the right ingredients, you’ll be able to stave off the appearance of aging for many years to come, keeping your skin looking smooth, firm, and youthful. One product that helps with exactly that is the OROGOLD 24K Multi Vitamin Night Nourishment + Retinol. Not only will this rich moisturizer keep your skin feeling hydrated for hours, but it also contains retinol – an ingredient that has been proven, time and time again, to be one of the best out there for preventing and reducing the visible signs of skin aging.

Assess Storage and Check Expiry Dates

Another reason why your skincare routine may no longer be effective? Perhaps the skincare products that you’re using have lost their efficacy. This happens more commonly than you’d think, and it’s usually down to improper storage.

Most skincare products need to be kept in certain conditions. Why? Because the ingredients within are sensitive to various elements, such as heat, sunlight, and moisture. If you aren’t storing your skincare products somewhere cool, dark, and dry (as opposed to humid, like a bathroom), the ingredients that comprise them will start to deteriorate.

That same deterioration starts to occur once a skincare product reaches its expiry date, too. Those expiry dates are there for a reason – even though a product may not look expired, the active ingredients within will have lost their potency.

Have a look through your skincare stash, tossing out any products that have expired or haven’t been stored properly for a while. Sub in fresh replacements, and your skincare routine should kick back into action again!

Consider Consistency

Finally, let’s talk about consistency, meaning how consistent you are with your skincare routine. Skincare products need to be applied regularly and consistently in order to work. In fact, some ingredients need a while to accumulate in the skin before they can even begin to produce visible results. If you aren’t consistent with your skincare, none of this will be able to happen.

If consistency is something that you’ve been struggling with, our earlier advice applies once again: simplify your routine. Keep it short and succinct so that it doesn’t take longer than a couple of minutes. If needed, set some reminders for the start and end of each day so that you don’t forget about skincare.

Power-Up Your Skincare Routine With OROGOLD

If your skincare routine has suddenly stopped working, there’ll usually be a reason behind this. Yes, it may take a while to figure this out, but the tips that we’ve shared above should help. Work your way through them and, by the time you reach the end, you should have a skincare routine that’s once again bringing about improvements in your complexion.

The Skincare Duo That Keeps You Matte All Day (Yes, Even in 90°)

woman moisturizer

Tired of how sweaty and greasy your skin seems to look after just a couple of hours in the heat, let alone all day? You’re not alone. With the heat causing an increase in both oil and sweat production, it doesn’t take long before shine overwhelms the skin…and this is a problem that so many people face.

While there are plenty of skincare products out there that promise to miraculously mattify your skin and keep it looking that way, it’s rare for them to actually deliver on those claims. If you want to keep the shine at bay, you’ll need to approach the issue from a few different angles, and it’s very difficult for a single product to do that.

The solution? Add the 24K Termica Activation Serum and the 24K Termica HD Solution to your skincare routine, and you’ll finally be able to take back some control over your skin. Apply this OROGOLD duo to your skin in the morning, and you’ll be able to maintain a smooth and matte complexion until the evening, even when temperatures soar to 90° and beyond.

A Beautiful Summer Romance: The 24K Termica Activation Serum & the 24K Termica HD Solution

The OROGOLD 24K Termica Collection was created specifically for people who struggle with shiny-looking skin in the summer months. Use any of these products individually, and you’ll notice that your skin already starts to take on a more matte finish. However, combine them together, especially the 24K Termica Activation Serum and the 24K Termica HD Solution, and that’s when the magic really starts to happen!

A Closer Look at the 24K Termica Activation Serum

Termica Activation Serum

The 24K Termica Activation Serum is the perfect addition to a summer skincare routine. This serum, which has a gel-like consistency, immediately feels cooling and refreshing when applied to the skin, setting your skin up beautifully for the hot day ahead.

What’s in it?

Keeping your skin hydrated is crucial at all times, but especially so in hot weather. With the sun rapidly pulling moisture out of the skin, failing to adequately replenish those stores will trigger an increase in sebum production. This, combined with the extra sweat that your skin will be producing in the heat, will leave your skin looking shinier than ever. Thanks to the several hydrating compounds in this serum, however, you won’t need to worry about that. With sodium hyaluronate, collagen, peptides, seaweed extract, and more, all binding moisture to the skin, it will immediately give your face a fuller and plumper finish.

Meanwhile, there are several ingredients in this serum that will work to regulate how oily your skin feels. The catechins and tannins in green tea extract, for example, will cut back on how greasy your skin looks. Meanwhile, witch hazel extract leaves the pore openings feeling tighter, which restricts how much sebum they can release. Vitamin C is also known for having a balancing effect on the complexion.

Licorice root extract is another notable ingredient in this serum. It contains a compound called Licochalcone A, which controls how shiny the skin looks. Licorice root extract is also revered for how it lightens the look of hyperpigmentation. It evens out the skin tone in a way that will enhance your matte finish.

A Closer Look at the 24K Termica HD Solution

It’s not easy to find a summer-friendly moisturizer. Layer a cream that’s even just slightly too thick onto your skin, and not only will you end up increasing sebum production, but you’ll also be more likely to experience clogged pores and acne breakouts. With the 24K Termica HD Solution, however, this will no longer be an issue. This lightweight moisturizer was formulated to give the skin a radiant yet matte appearance.

What’s in it?

Termica HD Solution

Just like the 24K Termica Activation Serum, the 24K Termica HD Solution also features plenty of hydrating ingredients. It’s always a good idea to layer moisture onto your skin, and this skincare duo makes that easy. Follow the serum up with this blend of sodium hyaluronate, coral seaweed extract, and other moisture-binding ingredients, and keeping your skin hydrated for hours will suddenly seem so much easier.

Retinol is another powerful ingredient that has been used in this cream. While many prefer to save their retinol usage for the evenings, using this antioxidant during the day can be very beneficial. Not only will it help to maintain skin hydration levels, but it will also leave your pores looking smaller and your skin feeling less oily. Yes, it can make unprotected skin more sensitive to the sun, but keeping your skin covered with SPF will keep your skin safe while also preventing the retinol from degrading once sunlight hits it.

Of course, antioxidants are key in hot weather, and this moisturizer contains a number of them. In addition to the ingredients we’ve already mentioned, it also boasts resveratrol, green tea extract, sea buckthorn extract, and a selection of other antioxidant-rich botanicals.

Adding This Skincare Duo to Your Routine

Vitamin-C-Cleanser

No matter how good a skincare product may be, you’re only going to be able to reap its full range of benefits if you apply it correctly.

This means starting with clean skin. Applying any products to your skin before cleansing it will only leave you with clogged pores that make your skin look discolored and shinier than usual. While we have a few cleansers available at OROGOLD, the 24K Vitamin C Facial Cleanser would likely be your best bet. Not only will it quickly sweep away dirt, excess sebum, and other impurities, but it’s also infused with several ingredients that will leave your skin feeling better balanced and less greasy in the long run.

Once your skin has been cleansed, you can then move on to applying our skincare duo. Start with the 24K Termica Activation Serum. Apply a small amount to your skin and then gently pat it in to enhance absorption. Then, while your skin is still slightly damp from the serum, apply a layer of the 24K Termica HD Solution.

Once you’re done, finish with a layer of your favorite sunscreen to keep your skin protected for the next couple of hours. Don’t forget to keep reapplying your sunscreen every two hours or so.

Other Ways to Beat the Shine in the Summer

The skincare duo that we’ve featured above will go a long way in keeping your complexion shine-free all day. However, here are a few extra tips to keep in mind:

Exfoliate Regularly

24K MULTI-VITAMIN DEEP PEELING + MANDELIC ACID

While exfoliation isn’t going to have much influence over how much oil your skin produces, it’s essential for removing excess oil, preventing that sebum from clogging pores. Without exfoliating, all of that oil will be trapped on your skin, leaving you looking greasier.

At the same time, you don’t want to go overboard with your exfoliation efforts. Over-exfoliating will trigger sebum production due to how it damages the skin barrier. Keep things gentle yet consistent by exfoliating with OROGOLD’s 24K Multi-Vitamin Deep Peeling + Mandelic Acid.

Use a Clay Mask Weekly

Termica Energizing Mask & Serum

Clay is excellent at tackling a greasy complexion. It binds itself to sebum, making it much easier for that extra oil to be removed.

The 24K Termica Collection, where our superstar skincare duo comes from, contains a clay mask: the 24K Termica Energizing Mask. It makes use of kaolin clay, known for being gentle yet very effective! It also brings together several antioxidant-rich ingredients, including vitamins A, C, and E, aloe vera, and coffee seed extract.

The 24K Advanced Facial Mask is another clay mask worth checking out. This one combines kaolin with bentonite, while also bringing in a few plant oils to ensure that the skin doesn’t end up feeling dehydrated. Those same ingredients also soothe the feeling of inflammation while providing an array of powerful antioxidants.

Don’t Expose Your Skin to Hot Water

Your skin barrier is intricately linked with sebum production. It regulates how oily your skin is by telling your sebaceous glands whether they should be producing more or less oil.

If your skin barrier is compromised in any way, sebum production usually increases. This is your skin’s attempt to compensate for the gaps in its barrier. If you want to keep that shine under control, it’s vital that you keep your skin barrier healthy.

While there’s so much out there that damages the skin barrier, hot water is a big culprit. If you use hot water while cleansing your face or showering, you’re only going to be adding to how shiny your skin looks. Turn the temperature down to lukewarm, and you should start to notice that your skin naturally looks more matte.

Keep Your Belongings Clean

Think about how many times a day you touch your phone, along with how many other surfaces your phone touches. Not only does that phone end up cluttered with bacteria from all of those surfaces, but the oils from your skin transfer over to it, too. The next time you press that phone against your face, the oil and bacteria move on over, leaving your skin looking shiny and your pores feeling clogged.

To prevent this from happening, keep any belongings of yours that touch your face as clean as possible. In addition to your phone, pay attention to things like your pillowcases and sunglasses. The more often you use an item, the more often you should clean it.

Turn to OROGOLD for a Matte Complexion All Summer Long

When it comes to dealing with shiny skin, especially in the summer, it can take a while to stumble upon the perfect combination of products. There’s a huge element of trial and error to it, which can be frustrating and expensive! To get around this, we created the 24K Termica Collection. Each product is designed to mattify the complexion, both immediately and in the long term. Whether you opt for the whole set or treat yourself to the summer-loving duo that is the 24K Termica Activation Serum and the 24K Termica HD Solution, your skin will soon be thanking you!

This One Skincare Product Replaced Three – Here’s What Happened

woman skincare

While single-ingredient skincare products that could only tackle one skin concern each used to be all the rage, multitaskers are now where it’s at. People are increasingly recognizing the damage that they’re causing by overwhelming their skin with long and complex routines each day, hence why the skincare world is now moving toward simplified and minimal regimens.

The only way to cut back on your skincare routine while still meeting all of your skin’s needs is to invest in multi-functional products. Skincare brands have been responding by producing an array of different two-in-one formulas, but three-in-ones are still much harder to come by.

This is likely why our new three-in-one product at OROGOLD has been such a hit. With this one product able to encompass three steps of your skincare routine, simplifying your skincare efforts has never been easier!

Meet the OROGOLD 24K Golden Dew Serum-in-Cream

Golden Dew Serum In Cream

Ready to discover your new favorite skincare multitasker? Meet the OROGOLD 24K Golden Dew Serum-in-Cream. As you can tell from its name, it’s a hybrid product that blurs the line between a serum and a cream. While it has a very light creamy texture, it carries a high concentration of actives in the same way that serums are famous for. Let’s take a closer look at how it could replace three of the products in your current skincare routine:

A Hydrating Serum

Hydrating serums are products that are used by all skin types. They’re essential year-round, especially as you age and your skin’s ability to retain moisture declines.

While there are plenty of hydrating serums out there, many share similarities when it comes to ingredients. They’re usually formulated with humectants – ingredients that bind moisture to the skin to provide an instant moisture boost, along with a plumper and brighter appearance.

The 24K Golden Dew Serum-in-Cream definitely doesn’t disappoint on the humectant front! It contains some of the best hydrating ingredients in the industry, including sodium hyaluronate, squalane, and peptides. Not only will these ingredients work to quench thirsty skin cells, but they’ll also keep your skin barrier feeling supported and strengthened.

An Antioxidant Serum

Just like hydrating serums, antioxidant serums are also popular additions to skincare routines. In fact, many choose to use both, layering one over the other. This ensures that your skincare routine covers all bases.

With the 24K Golden Dew Serum-in-Cream, however, you’ll no longer have to do that. In addition to filling in for your hydrating serum, this formula will also take the place of your antioxidant serum.

Which antioxidants can be found in this product? Vitamin C is one. It’s used in the form of tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate, one of the most stable and effective vitamin C derivatives around. Vitamin E and vitamin B3 (niacinamide) can be found in this formula too. Both are antioxidants, with the latter being particularly efficient at tackling the appearance of oxidative damage in the skin.

Grape seed extract is another noteworthy ingredient. It contains a high volume of proanthocyanidins, which are antioxidants that support, firm, and tighten the complexion. Studies also show that when used alongside a sunscreen, grape seed extract leaves the skin feeling even better protected against UV rays.

A Moisturizer

Moisturizing is always recommended for every skin type, especially after applying a serum. A moisturizer will form a seal over your skin’s surface, preventing the ingredients from the serum, along with your skin’s natural moisture reserves, from evaporating away.

The 24K Golden Dew Serum-in-Cream contains a few ingredients that effectively lock in the lighter ingredients in this formula. Sweet almond oil and avocado oil both perform this role, creating a thin film that keeps everything underneath it locked in.

Those same moisturizing ingredients provide other benefits too. They soothe, support, and hydrate the complexion, while also serving as excellent sources of antioxidants.

Adding the 24K Golden Dew Serum-in-Cream to Your Skincare Routine

Vitamin-C-cleanser

So, where does the multitasking 24K Golden Dew Serum-in-Cream fit into your skincare routine?

Start by cleansing your skin. After all, you should never apply anything to your skin unless it has been cleansed first. If you want to really bump up your skin’s antioxidant content, give the OROGOLD 24K Vitamin C Cleanser a try.

After this, you can move on to applying the 24K Golden Dew Serum-in-Cream. If you’re using it in the evening, you won’t need to apply any other products afterward. However, if you’re adding it to your morning skincare routine, make sure that you top it off with some SPF.

Get to Know More of OROGOLD’s Multitaskers

Love the idea of simplifying your skincare routine with multitasking formulas? Here are a few other options to explore:

The 24K Skin Tone SPF 30

24K Skin Tone SPF30

As we mentioned earlier, two-in-one skincare products have become extremely popular. That’s exactly what our 24K Skin Tone SPF 30 is – it functions as both a moisturizer and a sunscreen. This allows it to overcome some of the problems that people have with traditional sunscreens, mainly the fact that they’re thick, leave a white cast behind, and are cumbersome to keep reapplying. Not only is this cream lightweight and sheer, but it also immediately hydrates the skin to provide a plumper and more radiant finish. This makes it an absolute joy to reapply throughout the day!

What’s in it? A number of proven ingredients that work beautifully on the skin during the day. Aloe vera hydrates and soothes the complexion, while green tea extract provides important antioxidants that keep the skin feeling even better protected against the sun. Meanwhile, vitamins ensure that skin cells feel supported, and gold gives the skin a gorgeous glow!

The 24K Vitamin C Booster Facial Serum

24K Vitamin C Booster Serum

While all antioxidants are great for your skin, vitamin C is famous for being one of the best. This ingredient on its own is an incredible multitasker. Combine it with other ingredients that have similar properties, and you’ll have a skincare powerhouse on your hands!

That’s exactly what we’ve done with our 24K Vitamin C Booster Facial Serum. Two potent forms of vitamin C have been blended with vitamins A and E. This creates a blend that’s able to do so much for the skin. Between smoothing away the appearance of wrinkles, lightening the visibility of hyperpigmentation, and giving the skin a more elastic feel, there’s not much that these ingredients can’t do! Even better, the inclusion of wheat germ oil provides hydration, eliminating the need for an additional hydrating serum.

The 24K Golden Multi-Corrective Solution

Golden Multi-corrective solution

There aren’t many skincare products out there that produce visible results in just a minute or two. That’s one of the reasons why the 24K Golden Multi-Corrective Solution is so popular. Apply it to your skin and, in a matter of seconds, it will start to work its magic on your complexion.

What exactly does it do? It diminishes the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, dark spots, and dullness. With its targeted applicator, it’s easy to apply it directly to areas of concern, where it will then make your skin look smoother, firmer, and brighter.

How is it able to do all of this? Its effects can be attributed to its superior ingredient blend. This formula brings together the likes of sodium hyaluronate, specialized peptides, a selection of fast-acting plant extracts, and alpha-hydroxy acids. You’ll spot some of the most efficient names in skincare on this product’s ingredient list, making it one worth having when your complexion could do with a quick fix of any kind!

The 24K Purifying Toner

24K Purifying Toner

What’s the next step in your skincare routine after cleansing? Some people apply a toner, with these products designed to complete the cleansing process and rebalance the pH level of the skin’s surface after it has been cleansed. Others prefer to use an essence, which provides a boost of moisture and nutrients.

The OROGOLD 24K Purifying Toner, however, enables you to do both with just one product. This formula offers elements of both a toner and an essence, providing the best of both worlds. You’ll also find a number of complexion-soothing ingredients in this blend, such as aloe vera, chamomile, and cucumber.

The best part? Thanks to its spray pump applicator, this formula also triples up to be a hydrating face mist. Apply it whenever your skin could do with a pick-me-up, and it will leave your skin feeling refreshed and revived!

The Collagen Plumping Mist

Collagen Cooling Set Limited Edition

The Collagen Plumping Mist, which can be found in our Collagen Cooling Set, is another product that straddles the line between toner, essence, and face mist. It’s a very lightweight solution with a spray pump applicator that makes it easy to spritz onto the skin.

However, many find that this mist also performs the role of a lightweight serum. With sodium hyaluronate, niacinamide, collagen, and vitamin E, it’s a great formula for boosting moisture retention while keeping the skin barrier feeling supported.

Treat yourself to the Collagen Cooling Set and you’ll be able to enjoy the three other products that accompany this mist. The HydroCollagen Lift Mask will help you to tighten the look of loose and sagging skin, while the Advanced Soothing Cool Cream is the perfect moisturizer for the summer months. Finally, the cooling globe has an incredibly soothing effect on the complexion. It will also work to enhance the absorption of the other skincare products you apply.

Summary

It’s so easy to overload your skin by using too many products, which can then lead to a whole host of various skin problems. This is why so many people are now trying to simplify their skincare routines as much as possible, a move that you should be making too! With the multitasking skincare products we’ve featured above, this becomes so much easier. You’ll be able to target your skin’s specific needs in fewer steps, which your skin will undoubtedly appreciate.

Ceramides, Niacinamide & More: Why Everyone’s Talking About Barrier Repair

woman applying skincare

Barrier repair has become a hot topic in the skincare world lately. Why? Because it was an aspect of skincare that, up until recently, was largely ignored, yet it’s something that just about everyone would benefit from.

With the skin barrier now a trending talking point, certain ingredients, from niacinamide to ceramides to peptides, are being recommended as must-haves. While there’s no denying that these ingredients go hand-in-hand with a healthy skin barrier, it’s important to first understand a little more about that precious layer of skin before you start overhauling your skincare routine.

Ready to get started? Read on as OROGOLD explains all you need to know about your skin barrier and how to give it the very best care.

Why is the Skin Barrier So Important?

Your skin barrier sits on the outermost layer of your skin. It’s made up of a combination of lipids, proteins, and dead cells, all of which come together to create a protective layer over your skin’s surface.

This layer plays a few crucial roles when it comes to skin health, with moisture retention being one. Your skin barrier locks your skin’s moisture reservoirs in, giving the deeper layers of your skin access to sufficient moisture. Without that barrier, all of that moisture would quickly evaporate away, leaving your skin cells parched.

Your skin barrier also keeps irritants away while preventing external aggressors from damaging your skin. From environmental allergens and pollutants to UV rays and harsh weather, the deeper layers of your skin owe their safety and integrity to your skin barrier, which is why skin barrier repair is so important.

Understanding Barrier Damage

So, why all of the buzz about barrier repair? Because it’s so easy for the skin barrier to be damaged. Once this happens, barrier function declines, which can then lead to a whole host of various problems.

Here are just a few of the triggers that lead to a barrier breakdown:

  • A dry environment, as well as an overly humid environment
  • UV rays
  • Exposure to pollutants and other chemicals
  • Aggressive skincare ingredients/products
  • Aging
  • Stress
  • Certain skin conditions

How do you know if your skin barrier has been compromised? Dehydration is often one of the first signs. This can manifest in different ways. For some people, dehydration can lead to dry and flaky skin. However, for others, it increases oil production, causing clogged pores and acne.

Your skin will also become much more sensitive and irritable since a weakened skin barrier won’t be able to keep impurities out. Your skin may decide that it no longer wants to tolerate ingredients that it used to be fine with. You may also notice an increase in inflammation and itching. Your skin will also be more susceptible to infections.

Is it Possible to Repair a Damaged Skin Barrier?

If you suspect that your skin barrier might be compromised, even if only slightly so, what can you do about it? Here are some tips that will help to leave your skin barrier not just feeling repaired, but also feeling stronger than ever:

Use the Right Skincare Ingredients

Certain skincare ingredients are known for giving the skin barrier a stronger and thicker finish. Incorporating these ingredients into various stages of your skincare routine will soon have your skin barrier feeling replenished:

Ceramides

Termica Activation Serum

Ceramides are lipids that naturally form a significant portion of the skin barrier. They act like a glue, holding skin cells together. Applying them topically can quickly leave the skin barrier feeling boosted. You’ll find ceramides infused in the OROGOLD 24K Termica Activation Serum, which also contains a few of the other ingredients we’re about to discuss.

Niacinamide

24K ROSE GOLD AGE GLOW DUO

Otherwise known as vitamin B3, niacinamide is another ingredient that keeps the skin barrier feeling strong and resilient. It offers other benefits too, such as calming the look of irritation and regulating how greasy the skin feels. Give it a try with the OROGOLD 24K Rose Gold Age Glow Duo, a two-part system that combines niacinamide with several other barrier-loving ingredients.

Peptides

Termica Completion Cream

Peptides are chains of amino acids that keep the skin barrier feeling capable of functioning optimally. Research shows that they can also help to heal the feeling of a damaged skin barrier. You’ll find peptides in several OROGOLD products, including the 24K Termica Completion Cream.

Hyaluronic Acid

String Lift Sculpting System

Hyaluronic acid is a humectant that draws moisture from the air around it and binds it to the skin barrier. It keeps the skin barrier hydrated, enabling it to work to its full potential. OROGOLD’s String Lift Sculpting System contains six different forms of hyaluronic acid. Each one has a different molecular size, meaning that not only will your skin barrier benefit from some extra hydration, but the other layers of your skin will feel quenched as well.

Oats

24K Overnight Cream

Oats have been used for centuries for a variety of skin barrier-related issues. Studies show that it can improve barrier function, while also acting as a prebiotic for the beneficial bacteria on the skin. As this bacteria flourishes, it helps to support the skin barrier. Oat also soothes the feeling of inflammation and moisturizes the skin. This is why we’ve used it in the OROGOLD 24K Overnight Creama decadent moisturizer that also contains peptides, antioxidants, and plant oils.

Squalane

Golden Dew Serum In Cream

Just like hyaluronic acid, squalane is an incredible hydrator. This keeps the skin barrier feeling strong and supported. With squalane being very similar in composition to the skin’s natural sebum, it’s an ingredient that the skin barrier readily allows in. Add squalane to your routine with the OROGOLD 24K Golden Dew Serum-in-Cream. This unique formula also contains niacinamide, sodium hyaluronate, and peptides.

Keep Your Skincare Routine Simple

We’ve featured several different barrier-loving skincare products above. However, this doesn’t mean that they should all be added to your skincare routine! If your skin barrier is showing signs of damage, the last thing it needs is to feel overloaded with new ingredients and products. Instead, it needs some time to recuperate, which is why your skincare routine should be kept as simple as possible. Pick and choose your products wisely, ensuring that each one helps, rather than hinders, your skin barrier.

Go Easy When Cleansing and Exfoliating

24K Mousse Cleanser

Earlier, we mentioned how aggressive skincare products can cause skin barrier damage. They strip away at the various components that make up the skin barrier, leaving that layer compromised. Cleansers and exfoliators are notorious for doing this, so make sure that the products you’re using are gentle and truly barrier-friendly.

If it’s time for a change, check out the OROGOLD 24K Mousse Cleanser. It’s a sulfate-free formula that moisturizes the skin while it cleanses. Rather than stripping away your skin barrier, it will leave it feeling calm and balanced. Meanwhile, the 24K Multi-Vitamin Deep Peeling + Mandelic Acid would be a great product to exfoliate with. However, cut back on how often you exfoliate until your skin barrier feels back to normal.

Pay Attention to pH

24K Purifying Toner

Your skin’s pH level plays a key role in maintaining skin barrier function. It needs to be slightly acidic if the skin barrier is to function properly. Unfortunately, certain skincare products (cleansers in particular) can throw this off.

This is why it can be helpful to incorporate a toner into your skincare routine. Toners rebalance surface pH, which will leave your skin barrier feeling much happier! Again, stick to a gentle formula that hydrates and soothes the complexion, just like OROGOLD’s 24K Purifying Toner.

Shield Your Skin Barrier From the Sun

24K Skin Tone SPF30

When UV rays hit your skin, your skin barrier is the first to receive the damage. Yes, this protective layer goes some way in helping to prevent UV rays from causing more harm than they already do, but the skin barrier itself is also susceptible to UV damage.

The best way to shield your skin from the sun is with a broad-spectrum sunscreen. Since it’s important to keep your skincare routine simple, consider a two-in-one product, like the OROGOLD 24K Skin Tone SPF 30. Not only will it protect your skin from the sun, but it will also hydrate, soothe, and replenish your complexion.

Make the Right Lifestyle Choices

While repairing the skin barrier is usually associated with skincare, your lifestyle choices have a huge impact on this too. Make poor lifestyle choices, and your skin, including your skin barrier, will suffer in various ways:

  • Diet – your skin barrier needs certain nutrients to thrive. If your diet is lacking in omega-3 fatty acids, your skin barrier won’t be as strong as it could be. Vitamins A, C, and E should also be consumed on a regular basis to boost the skin barrier.
  • Stress – when you’re stressed, your body releases hormones that affect the skin in several ways. One of these is to trigger inflammation, which weakens the skin barrier. Finding ways to manage your stress levels and keep them low will really help to encourage a healthy complexion.
  • Exercise – working out increases circulation, meaning that the skin has access to a greater supply of oxygen and nutrients, both of which support barrier function. Each time you exercise, you give your skin barrier a boost!
  • Sleep – if your skin barrier is damaged, it needs plenty of time to heal. The majority of the skin’s healing processes take place at night while you’re asleep. Make sure that you’re getting enough quality sleep each night, so that your skin barrier has a proper chance to recuperate.
  • Vices – cigarettes and alcohol both have detrimental effects on the skin barrier. If you want your skin barrier to thrive, cut the smoking out and limit your alcohol intake.

Caring for Your Skin Barrier With OROGOLD

While it’s never enjoyable to be dealing with a damaged skin barrier, there’s plenty that you can do to turn things around. Use the right skincare ingredients, tweak your skincare routine, and live a lifestyle that’s as healthy as possible – it won’t be long before your skin barrier starts to feel stronger and better balanced once again!

Glowing From Head to Toe? Here’s How to Get There

woman skin glowing

Has your skin been looking dull and drab lately? Follow this face and body routine from OROGOLD and you’ll soon have glowing skin from head to toe!

Cleanse and Exfoliate Your Face and Body

24K Mousse Cleanser

Cleansing is always the very first step of any skincare routine, followed by exfoliation if your pores could do with an even deeper clear-out. Since this routine is all about encouraging glowing skin on both your face and your body, start in the shower, where you can cleanse and exfoliate both at the same time. However, keep the water temperature lukewarm – hot water will only strip your skin’s protective layer and make it harder to achieve a radiant glow.

Of course, the products that you use are important too. When it comes to cleansers for both your face and your body, keep your skin type in mind. If the skin on your face is dry or sensitive, go with a gentle formula, like the OROGOLD 24K Mousse Cleanser. Meanwhile, if your skin type is combination or oily, you may need something a little more powerful, like the OROGOLD 24K Vitamin C Facial Cleanser.

While facial cleansers can be used on the body (although body cleansers should never be used on the face), you would be best to purchase a dedicated body wash. The skin on your body is thicker and tougher – it doesn’t require the same gentle touch that facial skin does.

What about exfoliation? The 24K Multi-Vitamin Deep Peeling + Mandelic Acid is a great choice for the face, no matter your skin type. Meanwhile, the OROGOLD 24K Classic Body Scrub provides a decadent way to thoroughly exfoliate your body.

Apply a Glow-Boosting Mask

24K Advanced Facial Mask

Once you step out of the shower, before turning your attention to your body, give your face some TLC with a glow-boosting face mask. Ideally, it should be a mask that can be left on your skin while you carry out the next two steps of this routine. There’s nothing like multitasking to make skincare more convenient!

We have a few face masks at OROGOLD that meet the mark. If your skin has been looking dull and congested, a clay mask will always be a good option. The 24K Advanced Facial Mask contains two types of clay, along with Dead Sea mud, making it very effective at working through clogged pores. It will quickly brighten the look of your skin while also treating it to an array of powerful antioxidants.

Alternatively, if your skin is dry or damaged, look for a mask that focuses on hydration. The 24K Deep Tissue Rejuvenation Mask is a hydrogel sheet mask that will give your skin’s moisture levels a boost. The 24K Skin Balancing Mask Stick, which is infused with a variety of different plant oils, butters, and vitamins, will also go a long way in contributing to glowing skin.

Give Your Body Some Extra Hydration

24K Purifying Toner

Now that you’ve applied your face mask and have left it to work its magic, turn your attention back to your body. By this point, the skin on your body will likely be fully dry from your shower. While you could go ahead and apply a moisturizer to it, your efforts will be much more worthwhile if you give your skin some extra hydration first, before locking that in with a moisturizer. When it comes to achieving glowing skin, hydration is everything. The more hydrated your skin is, the brighter and more radiant it will look!

So, how can you hydrate your body? The easiest way is with a hydrating body mist. Simply spritz one on from head to toe, and then quickly move on to moisturizing.

If you don’t want to invest in a body mist, using a hydrating facial toner in this way will have a similar effect. The OROGOLD 24K Purifying Toner, for instance, is brimming with a hydrating blend of aloe vera leaf juice, cucumber fruit extract, and chamomile extract. A light layer is all you need before moving on to the next step of this routine.

Moisturize Your Body

24K Classic Hand Body Cream

It’s now time to moisturize your body. This will not only give your skin access to even more moisture, but it will also form a seal over your skin’s surface to prevent your skin’s moisture reserves from evaporating into the air.

What’s the best body moisturizer to use if you’re aiming for glowing skin? Ideally, you need a hydrating formula. As we mentioned earlier, giving your skin as much hydration as possible will guarantee a more radiant glow.

With that said, keep your skin type in mind too. Hydrating body care products are often rich and greasy, which will be too much for oily skin. If you often suffer from body acne, pick a lightweight body cream that won’t leave your pores feeling clogged, such as the OROGOLD 24K Classic Hand & Body Cream. On the other hand, if you have dry skin, go all out with a rich moisturizer, just like the 24K Classic Body Butter.

If some parts of your body are dry but others are oily, don’t be afraid to mix and match two different moisturizers! Apply a lighter cream to those oily areas, but slather on a thicker moisturizer to the dry parts of your skin.

Apply a Hydrating Serum to Your Face

String Lift Sculpting System

Now that you’re enjoying glowing skin on your body, it’s time to achieve the same with your face! As always, moisture is key, so now is the time to apply one or two products that contain plenty of hydrating ingredients.

This is where serums really shine. Although they’re quite lightweight products, the right serum can provide an intense boost of moisture, instantly giving the skin more luminescence. Look for a serum that contains a variety of humectants. These are ingredients with moisture-binding properties, making them extremely effective at hydrating the skin. Hyaluronic acid, glycerin, peptides, and collagen are all examples of good humectants, and all can be found in the OROGOLD String Lift Sculpting System.

The 24K Rejuvenating Skin Serum is also a great formula for providing a moisture boost, as well as a glow! This serum hydrates with hemp seed oil, an ingredient that’s packed with fatty acids that keep the skin feeling soft and supple. It contains vitamins A, C, and E, too, all of which have been proven to help bring about glowing skin.

Moisturize Your Face

Golden Dew Serum In Cream

While some people may think that they can skip the moisturizer if they’ve used a moisturizing serum, this isn’t the case at all. Do this and it won’t be long before the hydrating ingredients from your serum evaporate away, leaving your skin cells parched.

Instead, you need to lock that moisture in with a moisturizer. This is the only way to ensure long-lasting hydration, meaning a long-lasting glow!

With that said, if a lightweight, serum-like finish is what you’re seeking, simply look for a moisturizer that provides this. Not all moisturizers are thick and heavy! Some, like the OROGOLD 24K Golden Dew Serum-in-Cream, have been created specifically to feel weightless on the skin. With niacinamide, squalane, sodium hyaluronate, and grape seed oil, it will leave your skin looking luminescent.

Of course, if you have dry skin, you’ll need thicker coverage. Look for a richer moisturizer, like OROGOLD’s 24K Deep Moisturizer. This cream brings together shea butter, vitamin C, vitamin E, beta-glucan, and a number of antioxidant-rich plant extracts. It can be used day and night – simply apply it whenever you want to see glowing skin!

The 24K Rose Gold Advanced Cream is also a popular choice among those with dry skin. This moisturizer hydrates with a blend of plant oils, including rose hip, avocado, and soybean. It’s full of peptides and other barrier-loving ingredients too, making it a great one for giving the skin a stronger and firmer finish.

Don’t Forget About Sun Protection

24K Skin Tone SPF30

Last but not least, let’s talk about sun protection. While this step can be skipped if you’re following this routine at night, sunscreen is absolutely essential during the day, for both your face and your body.

Any areas of your skin that will be exposed to UV rays will need a generous layer of SPF. In fact, even some areas of skin that are hidden underneath clothing may require sun protection too. If you can see light through the material of your clothes when you hold them up to the light, then this means that UV rays will be able to pass through as well.

While some sunscreens can be used on the face as well as the body, we would recommend purchasing a dedicated facial sunscreen for your face. With the skin on your face being thinner, it’s more susceptible to sun damage than the skin on your body. A sunscreen that contains added antioxidants will help to keep the skin on your face looking smooth and clear.

If you don’t already have one, check out the OROGOLD 24K Skin Tone SPF 30. It contains a few different antioxidant-rich ingredients, including green tea extract, aloe vera leaf extract, and vitamin E. These ingredients also have a soothing effect on the complexion, making them great for countering the feeling of inflammation that can often be brought on with sun exposure.

Get Ready for Glowing Skin!

A radiant glow is a sign that your skin is feeling healthy, making it only natural to want to achieve this! This is why the skincare routine above focuses on a few key steps – removing impurities, adding hydration, and supporting the complexion with antioxidants. Every step in the above routine takes this into account, which is exactly how this regimen is able to result in gorgeous radiance each and every time!

The 3-Step Routine That’s Going Viral in 2025 (And It Actually Works)

woman smiling

If you’ve been keeping an eye on skincare trends, you’ll have likely noticed that the long and complicated 10-step skincare routines that stemmed from the K-beauty craze a few years ago are now out. Instead, the skincare industry has swung in the opposite direction, with simplicity and minimalism (aka ‘skinimalism’) taking center stage.

While stripping your skincare routine back to just a few steps may seem a little daunting, it’s a movement that dermatologists wholeheartedly support. For years, they’ve been proclaiming how complex routines are doing more harm than good for the skin, and people are finally listening.

Take a look at some of the viral skincare routines currently in the spotlight, and you’ll notice a common thread: the majority consist of just three steps. The best part? A three-step skincare routine can be extremely effective, so long as you slot in the right products.

If you’ve been thinking about going minimalistic with your own skincare routine, keep reading as OROGOLD shares a three-step routine that will work wonders in catering to your skin’s needs without leaving your skin feeling overwhelmed.

Step 1: Cleanse

24K Mousse Cleanser

The very first step of any skincare routine, whether your routine contains three steps or 15 steps, is to cleanse your skin. It’s vital that you remove any dirt, excess oil, and other impurities from your skin before you move in with any other skincare products. Skip this step, and not only will your other products struggle to penetrate your skin, meaning that they won’t be able to work properly, but you’ll also end up trapping those impurities under the products that you apply. This will quickly lead to dullness, congestion, clogged pores, and breakouts.

While some people prefer to use separate cleansers for morning and night, this isn’t strictly necessary. If you’d like to keep your skincare routine as simple as possible, use the same one both day and night. However, what you do need to take into account is your skin type. This should dictate your choice of cleanser.

How? Let’s start with dry or sensitive skin. These skin types have a compromised skin barrier, which calls for a very gentle cleanser. The last thing that you want to do is strip away more of that barrier with harsh cleansing agents. A moisturizing formula, like the OROGOLD 24K Mousse Cleanser, would be perfect.

On the other hand, if your skin type is oily, you’ll need a more powerful cleanser than those with dry skin. Find a formula that’s capable of cutting through the excess grease that coats your skin’s surface, but without damaging your skin’s natural barrier. The OROGOLD 24K Vitamin C Facial Cleanser is great for this. It also contains a blend of antioxidants that will leave your skin feeling less oily in the long run.

Step 2: Target

If you wanted to keep your skincare routine as basic as possible, you could cut this step out and just follow the first and third steps of this routine. However, while that will allow you to maintain a healthy complexion, it won’t do much to target the visible skin concerns that you’re dealing with, which is where this step comes in. With that said, what this step consists of should depend on whether you’re following this routine in the morning or in the evening…

Morning

Vitamin C Booster Facial Serum

In the mornings, your focus needs to be on preventing the appearance of environmental damage. This can quickly take a toll on your complexion, which is why it’s worth doing whatever is necessary to keep your skin feeling safe.

This is where antioxidant serums can be a game-changer. Antioxidants are superstars at keeping the visibility of environmental damage at bay, be it damage from the sun, from pollution, or anything else. Many antioxidants also work hand-in-hand with SPF (which is the next step of this skincare routine), leaving your skin feeling even better protected against harmful UV rays.

Which antioxidants should you be using? Most tend to favor vitamin C, with this antioxidant known for its multitasking abilities. Research shows that regular use of the ingredient can lead to skin that looks smoother, firmer, and brighter. Vitamin C helps to boost skin hydration levels too, while leaving the skin barrier feeling stronger.

If you don’t yet have a go-to vitamin C serum, check out the OROGOLD 24K Vitamin C Booster Facial Serum. It contains two forms of vitamin C: tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate and ascorbyl palmitate. Both are highly stable and effective. They work even better when combined with other antioxidants, which is exactly what this serum does!

Evening

Termica Activation Serum

There’s nothing wrong with using a vitamin C serum twice a day. While most prefer to apply vitamin C in the morning before facing the world, it works well when used in the evenings too. Your skin benefits from access to extra antioxidants overnight. This is when it focuses on healing and regeneration, and antioxidants will leave it feeling more capable of doing so.

With that said, when keeping your skincare routine short, you also need to consider the other needs that your skin may have overnight. Hydration is a big one, with skin moisture levels significantly dropping while you sleep. For this reason, a hydrating serum can make a big difference to your complexion when applied before bed.

How can you tell if a serum is hydrating? Take a look at its ingredients. The OROGOLD 24K Termica Activation Serum, for example, is infused with several humectants, including sodium hyaluronate, seaweed extract, ceramides, and peptides. These ingredients also keep the skin barrier feeling supported, which your skin will greatly benefit from overnight. The best part is that this formula is filled with a variety of antioxidants as well, including vitamins A, C, and E. They’ll leave your skin feeling even more rejuvenated the next morning.

Step 3: Moisturize (and Protect)

The final step in this skincare routine is to moisturize. This is another essential step that nobody should skip, no matter what your skin type may be. However, just like the previous step, how you go about doing this will depend on the time of day:

Morning

24K Skin Tone SPF30

Nobody wants their skin to look greasy and shiny all day, which is why lighter moisturizers tend to be favored for morning use. The best day creams will be infused with plenty of antioxidants, which, as we discussed above, will keep your skin feeling safe from environmental damage.

Of course, sun protection needs to be considered too. This is often carried out as an additional step in a skincare routine, usually applied after all other skincare products have been used. However, thanks to the growing popularity of SPF moisturizers, it’s now possible to combine sun protection with moisturizing. This will save you from having to add yet another step to your skincare routine. It also makes sun protection so much more convenient and enjoyable since SPF moisturizers don’t tend to be as heavy or greasy as dedicated sunscreen formulas.

With that said, not all SPF moisturizers will provide enough protection. Ideally, you want a formula that offers broad-spectrum protection, with a minimum SPF of 30, just like the OROGOLD 24K Skin Tone SPF 30. Luxuriously silky and lightweight, this cream not only moisturizes and protects but also contains ingredients that soothe and calm the complexion. Between aloe vera, green tea, and vitamin E, it’s great for giving the skin a bright and dewy finish that lasts for hours.

Evening

24K Overnight Cream

As we’ve already mentioned, moisture loss increases overnight. This calls for a richer moisturizer to be used in the evening. The thicker your cream, the thicker the seal it will form over the surface of your skin. This means that less moisture will be able to evaporate out of your skin, ensuring long-lasting hydration.

While that may be the case, it’s also important to keep your skin type in mind when choosing a night cream. Dry or sensitive skin will require a much richer cream than oily or combination skin, with the OROGOLD 24K Overnight Cream being a great example. Thanks to a blend of shea butter, hemp seed oil, and vitamin E, it boasts a lush texture that will leave your skin feeling incredibly soft. Meanwhile, its numerous antioxidant-rich extracts will ensure that your skin cells feel supported throughout the night.

If your skin type is oily, you’ll likely need a lighter blend, like the OROGOLD 24K Termica HD Solution. Rather than containing rich plant oils and butters, this moisturizer hydrates with light ingredients that won’t clog up your pores. It’s packed with a selection of powerful botanicals too. These will leave your skin feeling less oily in the long run. Better yet, its antioxidants, from resveratrol to retinol, will counter the appearance of aging and skin damage while you snooze.

Whichever moisturizer you end up choosing, try to apply it while your skin is still damp from the serum in the previous step of your routine. This will allow your cream to lock in even more moisture, giving your skin a plumper and brighter finish.

Are You Ready to Try This 3-Step Skincare Routine?

If your skincare routine currently consists of several different steps, cutting this back to just three may not seem very appealing. However, there’s a reason why this simplified skincare routine has been going viral – it really does work! Not only will you save your skin from being overloaded with hundreds of extra ingredients that it doesn’t actually need, but you’ll also find that your new three-step routine is much easier to stick to and be consistent with. Give it a try for a few weeks, and you’ll soon understand exactly why everyone has been raving about minimalistic skincare routines.

Your Guide to Skincare That Doesn’t Compromise on Clean Ingredients

woman clean skincare

The skincare industry has really evolved in recent years, with a much bigger emphasis being placed on clean and green beauty. The problem is, with the skincare industry being largely unregulated, deciphering whether or not a product is actually ‘clean’ or not can be a challenge.

The best way forward is to familiarize yourself with ingredient lists. Knowing which ingredients adhere to your principles will make it easier for you to decide whether or not you should be using a certain product.

Not sure where to begin? Read on as OROGOLD takes a deep dive into the world of clean ingredients so that you can make the best choices for your skin.

What Are Clean Skincare Ingredients?

‘Clean’ means different things to everyone – there isn’t a clear or legal definition. However, most people would agree that clean ingredients comprise the following:

  • They don’t contain any toxic elements
  • Plant-based clean ingredients are grown organically and harvested sustainably
  • They usually don’t contain any animal products
  • They haven’t been tested on animals
  • Their overall environmental impact should be minimal

You’ll notice that we haven’t ‘natural’ as a condition for being considered ‘clean’, and there’s a reason for this. Just because an ingredient is synthetically produced doesn’t mean that it can’t be clean. In fact, many synthetically produced ingredients are ‘cleaner’ than natural ones. Whether it be plants grown with harmful pesticides, essential oils processed with chemicals, or, as a 2008 study found, natural ingredients containing carcinogenic substances, don’t make the mistake of shunning an ingredient just because it has been produced in a lab. Instead, find out more about it before casting judgment.

Some of the Best Clean Ingredients to Look For

Wondering whether you now need to spend hours looking up each ingredient in your skincare products to see if they adhere to the above? The answer is no. If your current skincare products are working well for you, don’t go tossing them out just because you’ve suddenly discovered that they aren’t clean. Instead, spend some time getting to know which ingredients are clean so that as your products run out, you can then replace them with cleaner alternatives.

Here are some of the most beneficial clean skincare ingredients to look out for:

Aloe Vera

24K Nano Night Recovery

Aloe vera is a favorite among skincare enthusiasts, even those who aren’t bothered about clean ingredients. Why? Because its numerous bioactive compounds do so much for the skin, without causing any irritation whatsoever. In fact, it has the opposite effect – it soothes the feeling of inflammation, hydrates the skin, and provides a boatload of antioxidants.

The environmental impact of aloe vera is minimal too. Not only is it easy to cultivate and fast-growing, but it’s also abundant in the wild.

If you would like to add aloe vera to your skincare routine, you’ll find plenty of OROGOLD products infused with the botanical. Most, including the ever-popular 24K Nano Night Recovery, contain aloe vera leaf extract – a great way to lavish your skin with a concentrated form of the ingredient. However, some products, like the OROGOLD 24K Purifying Toner, take a different stance. This one boasts aloe vera leaf juice as one of its main ingredients. This allows your skin to benefit even more from aloe’s hydrating properties, especially since it’s combined with several other hydrating and clean ingredients in this toner.

Hyaluronic Acid

String Lift Sculpting System

While the name ‘hyaluronic acid’ may sound science-y and synthetic, this sugar is actually naturally found in the human body. It’s mostly found in the skin, joints, and eyes, with its main purpose being to provide hydration and lubrication.

While the hyaluronic acid found in skincare is produced in a lab, a bio-fermentation process that has a very low environmental impact is used. The fact that it’s safe for all skin types, doesn’t cause any adverse reactions, and does an incredible job of hydrating the skin makes it one of the most noteworthy clean ingredients around.

The same applies to sodium hyaluronate – the salt form of hyaluronic acid. This essentially means that it has a smaller molecular size, making it easier for your skin to drink the ingredient up. You’ll find both hyaluronic acid and sodium hyaluronate in various OROGOLD products, but if you really want to make the most of the ingredient, the String Lift Sculpting System is a must-try. This skin-quenching solution is brimming with six different forms of hyaluronic acid, plus several other clean ingredients that hydrate and soothe the complexion.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C Booster Facial Serum

Vitamin C is one of the most famous skincare ingredients around, yet many don’t realize that it’s classed as a clean ingredient. This powerful antioxidant is loved for its multi-tasking abilities, with this single ingredient able to help with the appearance of everything from wrinkles to dark spots to loose skin.

Whether naturally derived or lab-produced, vitamin C has a low environmental footprint. The only factor that may sway it away from being considered ‘clean’ is the fact that it can sometimes cause skin irritation. However, this is only when it’s used incorrectly. With so many vitamin C derivatives available, pairing the right version of the antioxidant with your skin type is essential if you want to take full advantage of all that this ingredient has to offer.

You’ll find a few different forms of vitamin C used in OROGOLD products. The Vitamin C Booster Facial Serum contains tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate and ascorbyl palmitate. Both are highly stable and usually tolerated well by all skin types. Meanwhile, the 24K Termica Activation Serum contains ascorbic acid. This is a derivative that may leave sensitive skin feeling irritated, although this serum combines it with plenty of complexion-soothing ingredients to prevent that.

Vitamin C can also be found in many natural extracts, such as the rose hip seed extract that’s used in the OROGOLD Rose Gold Collection. Roses are a great source of the ingredient – while not all natural extracts can be considered clean, this one can!

Chamomile

24K Deep Moisturizer

While many plant extracts can be called clean ingredients, chamomile is in a class of its own. Why? Just like aloe vera, this ingredient has been proven to reduce the feeling of inflammation in the skin while also providing an array of skin-loving antioxidants.

Again, like all clean ingredients, chamomile is one that can safely be used on all skin types. It can also be grown and harvested in an environmentally sustainable way, although you’d need to opt for organic chamomile to ensure this.

Fortunately, organic chamomile is easy to find when you shop at OROGOLD! Lavish your face with the ingredient with the 24K Deep Moisturizer. This rich face cream will leave your skin feeling silky soft! Meanwhile, thanks to the 24K Classic Hand & Body Cream, the skin on your body can benefit from organic chamomile too!

Niacinamide

24K ROSE GOLD AGE GLOW DUO

We’ve already talked about vitamin C, but vitamin B3, also known as niacinamide, is another vitamin that tops the list of the best clean ingredients in skincare. Again, it occurs naturally in the body and is also present in many foods. This is likely why the skin tolerates it so well, making it an ingredient that can safely be used on all skin types.

Although synthetically produced niacinamide has a minimal environmental impact and is considered to be ‘nature-identical’, more and more manufacturers are now sourcing the ingredient from renewable plant sources, like sugar cane. This further enhances the ingredient’s green and clean credentials.

Want to give niacinamide a try? The OROGOLD 24K Rose Gold Age Glow Duo highlights the ingredient’s ability to reduce the appearance of fine lines and even out the complexion. In this formula, niacinamide is joined by several other clean ingredients, including sodium hyaluronate, vitamin C, aloe vera leaf extract, and rose hip seed extract. If you’d prefer to use the ingredient in the form of a moisturizer, the 24K Golden Dew Serum-in-Cream provides lightweight hydration and plenty of antioxidant power.

Which Ingredients Wouldn’t Be Considered Clean?

24K Overnight Cream

Now that you know a little more about how to choose skincare products that contain clean ingredients, let’s talk about ingredients that sit on the opposite end of the scale. Yes, the concept of clean skincare is a spectrum, but some ingredients should still be avoided at all costs:

  • Parabens – while these preservatives are commonly used in skincare, they are as far from clean as could possibly be! Not only have they been linked with everything from organ damage to thyroid disruption to certain cancers, but they’re also known for being irritants when applied topically.
  • Sulfates – these cleansing agents are powerful – more than they need to be. They’re infamous for stripping the skin’s natural protective barrier, which can then lead to a whole host of problems.
  • Refined petroleum – not only is this ingredient bad news from an environmental point of view but some forms of it are also considered to be carcinogenic.
  • Hydroquinone – this skin-lightening agent has a number of safety concerns, so much so that it’s banned in many countries. If you’re looking to lighten the appearance of dark spots, there are much safer ingredients out there to choose from, like the licorice root extract in the OROGOLD 24K Overnight Cream.
  • Talc – while talc itself isn’t an issue, the majority of the talc out there is contaminated with asbestos. If you can find a clean source, this ingredient can be useful but, usually, it’s best avoided.

How Clean is Your Skincare?

As we mentioned earlier, don’t panic if you’ve suddenly realized that the skincare products you currently use contain very few clean ingredients. Yes, clean skincare is undeniably better for your skin, as well as your overall health, but a drastic overhaul of your routine isn’t needed. Plus, it’s never a good idea to subject your skin to several new products all at once! Instead, take things slowly, gradually swapping out various products in your routine for cleaner alternatives. Yes, finding products containing only clean ingredients can be a challenge, but your efforts will soon pay off when it comes to your complexion.

Skincare Myths You’ve Believed – And the Truth Behind Them

When it comes to skincare, there are so many different opinions out there, making it easy to believe the wrong thing. While the odd mistake here and there won’t be the end of the world, consistently following bad advice could be severely detrimental to your complexion in the long run.

To make sure that your skincare knowledge is accurate and up to date, keep reading as OROGOLD talks through some of the most common and dangerous skincare myths around before explaining the truth behind each one.

Myth: The Harder You Scrub Your Skin, the Cleaner it Will Be

Let’s start by talking about exfoliation – something that you should, hopefully, be doing regularly. Physical exfoliators, like face scrubs, have always been popular, with many believing that the amount of pressure that they apply will dictate how thoroughly their skin is exfoliated. Therefore, they scrub harder, hoping that this will exfoliate the skin on a deeper level to leave their skin looking brighter than ever.

Truth: Harsh Scrubbing Only Damages the Skin’s Natural Barrier

24K Multi-Vitamin Deep Peeling

Unfortunately, the harder you scrub your skin, the more damage you’ll cause to your skin’s natural protective barrier. This can then lead to a whole lot of other problems. Over-exfoliation is linked to everything from excessive dryness to increased breakouts to sensitivities.

Instead, if your face scrub doesn’t seem to be doing a good enough job for your skin, consider upgrading to a better exfoliator rather than simply scrubbing your skin harder. Try a formula that offers a combination of physical and chemical exfoliants, like the OROGOLD 24K Multi-Vitamin Deep Peeling + Mandelic Acid. Bamboo powder and walnut shell powder ensure that you still get that scrubbing power while the addition of mandelic acid gently enhances results.

Myth: Oily Skin Doesn’t Need to Be Moisturized

While some skincare myths seem to come out of left field, it’s easy to see how this one arose. Oily skin usually already looks pretty greasy, so why would you want to add to that by moisturizing it? If your skin is already producing more oil than it needs, then doesn’t this mean that a moisturizer isn’t necessary?

Truth: Failing to Moisturize Oily Skin Can Increase Greasiness

Termica HD Solution

This theory fails to address the fact that oil is very different from water. A moisturizer is designed to lock moisture into the skin. Skipping the moisturizer deprives your skin of this moisture boost, leaving it feeling dehydrated. Over time, that dehydration will actually stimulate your skin’s sebaceous glands, encouraging them to produce even more oil. Failing to moisturize oily skin will only leave your skin even oilier in the long run.

If you have oily skin, moisturizing needs to be a non-negotiable part of your daily skincare routine. The key to moisturizing without weighing your skin down is to pick a lightweight, non-comedogenic moisturizer. The OROGOLD 24K Termica HD Solution would be a great choice. This non-greasy moisturizer hydrates the skin with the likes of sodium hyaluronate, seaweed extract, and cucumber extract, all of which feel weightless on the skin. It’s also packed with antioxidants, including retinol and resveratrol, to leave your skin feeling healthier overall.

Myth: SPF Isn’t Needed on a Cloudy Day

With the sun being responsible for up to 80% of the wrinkles and dark spots that appear on the skin with age, it goes without saying that you need to know how to separate fact from fiction when it comes to the many SPF-related skincare myths out there. Perhaps the most concerning of the bunch is the misconception that sunscreen doesn’t need to be worn on a cloudy day. After all, if you can’t see the sun, then why do you need to protect against it?

Truth: SPF is ALWAYS Needed

24K Skin Tone SPF30

When it comes down to it, during the day, the sun’s UV rays are always around, even when you can’t actually see the sun. There’s really no getting away from those harmful rays. They can penetrate through clouds as well as through glass. This means that even if you’re staying indoors on a cloudy day, sun damage can still occur.

This is why SPF needs to be worn 365 days a year, even on dull winter days. If you often struggle to remember to keep your skin protected, try swapping your day cream with an SPF moisturizer, like the OROGOLD 24K Skin Tone SPF 30. It’s silky, non-greasy, and incredibly hydrating. At the same time, it will also shield your skin from UV damage while providing a plethora of antioxidants.

Myth: Double Cleansing is Pointless If You Don’t Wear Makeup

Double cleansing became a skincare trend a few years ago. However, unlike many trends, which usually die down after a few months, double cleansing has managed to cement itself into daily skincare routines. With that said, one of the skincare myths that’s often perpetuated is that unless you wear heavy makeup, double cleansing is pointless. This is, however, definitely not the case…

Truth: Double Cleansing Does More Than Remove Makeup

24K Mousse Cleanser

While it’s true that double cleansing is a great technique to turn to if you wear heavy makeup, this isn’t the only reason to double cleanse. Instead, double cleansing is all about using two different types of cleansers to tackle the different types of impurities on your skin. Yes, makeup is one, but there’s also everything from dirt and pollutants to sweat and sebum. The thorough cleanse provided by double cleansing does a much better job of removing all of these impurities than a single cleanse.

Haven’t tried double cleansing yet? It’s easy! All it involves is cleansing your face twice. The first cleanse is done with an oil-based cleanser, which will remove oil-based impurities. The second cleanse needs to be with a water-based cleanser, such as the OROGOLD 24K Mousse Cleanser. This will remove water-based impurities, as well as any remnants from your first cleanser. Once your second cleanser has been rinsed off, you can then move on to the rest of your skincare routine.

Myth: Toothpaste Can Treat Pimples

Some skincare myths have been around for generations, and this is one. You may even remember your mother or grandmother advising you to dot toothpaste on your pimples…only to then be left bewildered as to why those spots have only gotten worse.

Truth: Toothpaste Will Make Pimples Worse

24K Advanced Facial Mask

Interestingly, while this skincare hack may have actually worked a few generations ago, times have changed. Back in the day, toothpaste used to contain an ingredient called triclosan. It had antibacterial properties, hence how it could help to treat pimples. However, triclosan was discovered to have safety concerns, leading to it being banned in many parts of the world. Toothpaste now contains a range of other ingredients, most of which will only irritate your skin and exacerbate the inflammation that caused your pimples in the first place.

Instead, if you’re looking for a way to rid your complexion of spots, go with the tried-and-tested methods. Turn to double cleansing, regular exfoliation, and proven spot treatments. Clay face masks, like the OROGOLD 24K Advanced Facial Mask, can also be great for pulling excess sebum away from the pores and preventing the appearance of breakouts.

Myth: Drinking More Water Will Heal Dry Skin

Dry skin can be frustrating to deal with, especially if you end up believing some of the skincare myths that relate to this skin type. One of the most common is that dry skin can easily be ‘cured’ simply by drinking more water.

Truth: Drinking More Water Won’t Make Much of a Difference to Dry Skin

24K Overnight Cream

While, in theory, adding more water to something that’s dry should moisten it, dry skin isn’t actually caused by a lack of water. Instead, it’s due to the skin not producing enough sebum. Yes, drinking more water can help to keep your skin better hydrated but it’s not going to increase sebum production and help with dry skin.

Instead, if you want to do away with dry skin, you’ll need to compensate for the lack of sebum on your skin’s surface. The best way to do this is with a rich moisturizer that contains similar ingredients to that of your own sebum, like the OROGOLD 24K Overnight Cream. Apply this moisturizer to your skin before bed and your face will feel so much softer and smoother the next morning.

Myth: You Can Shrink Your Pores With the Right Products

Tired of looking in the mirror and seeing giant pores staring back at you? It’s a common issue – one that’s not helped by some of the skincare myths out there. People often spend thousands on skincare products that promise to help shrink their pores, only to be left disappointed when that doesn’t happen.

Truth: Pore Size is Genetic and Can’t Be Altered

Termica Activation Serum

Simply put, you can’t change the size of your pores. They’re determined by your genes. No skincare product, no matter how good it may be, is going to be able to shrink your pores.

Don’t worry, this doesn’t mean that you have to live with noticeable pores forever. While skincare can’t physically make your pores smaller, the right ingredients can indeed make them look smaller. Green tea extract, witch hazel extract, sodium hyaluronate, and peptides all have this effect. They all work in different ways but, in the end, the results are pores that look barely visible. Treat yourself to the OROGOLD 24K Termica Activation Serum and you’ll be able to pamper your skin with all three of those ingredients, plus several more that will leave your skin looking pore-less and flawless!

Why Your Skin Deserves a Mid-Day Hydration Boost

woman face mask

Does your skin often start to look dull and drab long before the day is up? This is a sign that your skin hydration levels are waning. Giving your skin a midday moisture boost will quickly revive your complexion, leaving your skin looking fresh and revitalized.

How do you go about doing that? Here are some top tips from OROGOLD!

Why is it Important to Keep Skin Hydration Levels Consistent?

Did you know that around 64% of your skin consists of water? Moisture is required for every single process carried out by your skin, meaning that a lack of moisture will quickly interfere with how your skin cells function.

Keep your skin consistently hydrated throughout the day and you’ll notice the following:

  • Your skin will feel plumper, fuller, and more elastic.
  • Fine lines and wrinkles will look less noticeable.
  • Skin barrier function will improve. This will also help with any sensitivities you’re suffering from.
  • Oil production becomes better regulated. Hydrated skin doesn’t produce as much excess oil, which can reduce the appearance of clogged pores and breakouts.
  • Your skin will feel smooth rather than rough.
  • Your skin won’t feel quite so flaky and itchy.

When it comes down to it, the more hydrated your skin is, the healthier it will feel. For many people, a hydrating morning skincare routine is enough to give their skin cells long-lasting moisture, taking them through the day until it’s time to carry out their evening skincare routine. However, for others, dehydration occurs at a much faster rate, meaning that skin cells can often end up parched by mid-day.

What Causes Skin Hydration Levels to Drop?

Unfortunately, there are a number of factors out there that can contribute to depleting skin hydration levels, such as:

  • Dry environmental conditions, whether this is due to the natural lack of humidity in the winter or dryness caused by air conditioning/indoor heating. Either way, when there isn’t much moisture in the air, your skin’s moisture reserves evaporate away at a much faster rate.
  • Sun exposure. UV rays damage the skin’s natural protective barrier, preventing it from effectively retaining moisture.
  • Harsh skincare products or incorrect skincare techniques can also damage the skin barrier and interfere with moisture retention.
  • Aging. The skin’s ability to hold onto moisture declines with age.
  • Certain lifestyle choices can have a dehydrating effect on the body, as well as the skin. Smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, and not drinking enough water are among the most common causes.
  • Some underlying health conditions, as well as medications, can exacerbate dehydration in the skin.
  • Stress has been found to impact skin barrier function, leading to increased moisture loss.

How to Give Your Skin a Mid-Day Hydration Boost

As you can see, your skin has a lot to contend with when it comes to the many different factors that increase moisture loss. It’s hardly surprising that so many people struggle to maintain their skin hydration levels.

This is why giving your skin a mid-day hydration boost can be so beneficial. By keeping skin hydration topped up, you’re far less likely to end up dealing with any of the problems that we discussed above.

Here are a few ways to do just that:

Spritz on a Hydrating Toner or Face Mist

Collagen Cooling Set Limited Edition

One way to instantly refresh and rehydrate your skin is by spritzing on a hydrating toner or face mist. This will immediately saturate your skin’s surface with moisture, some of which will sink into your skin to quench your thirsty cells.

Ideally, pick a product that brings together a few different hydrating ingredients, like the Collagen Plumping Mist from OROGOLD’s Collagen Cooling Set Limited Edition. With sodium hyaluronate, niacinamide, collagen, and vitamin E, it will quickly bind moisture to your skin, leaving it feeling more comfortable while sporting an illuminated glow.

The OROGOLD 24K Purifying Toner also works well as a mid-day face mist. Thanks to a blend of aloe vera, cucumber, allantoin, and chamomile, it not only hydrates the skin but will also soothe the feeling of any midday inflammation.

Re-Moisturize

24K Skin Tone SPF30

While a facial mist is a great way to instantly hydrate your skin, the only problem with relying on this method is that the hydration that a face mist provides won’t last for very long. If you’ve used a face mist before, you’ll be aware of how quickly the mist dries on your skin. While this is a sign that some of it has been absorbed, the majority of that mist, especially its hydrating ingredients, will have evaporated away. The only way to prevent this is by locking that moisture in with a cream.

This is why re-moisturizing midday can be helpful, especially when combined with a face mist. With that said, choosing the right moisturizer is essential. Unless you’re going to be cleansing your skin first, you’ll need to stick with a very lightweight formula to save clogging your pores.

One way to hydrate your skin while also giving it some protection from the sun is by applying the OROGOLD 24K Skin Tone SPF 30. This advanced, non-greasy formula boasts a mixture of hydrating ingredients and antioxidants, along with SPF agents. With UV rays known for causing dehydration, this cream is capable of providing long-lasting moisture. Apply it as part of your morning skincare routine, top it up midday, and your skin will feel plump and protected for hours.

Cleanse and Mask

Skin Balancing Mask Stick

If you happen to have the time to give your skin a quick midday cleanse, following this up with a face mask can significantly boost skin hydration levels. Face masks are known for being quite intense in nature. Choose a hydrating formula and your skin cells will happily drink it up!

The OROGOLD 24K Skin Balancing Mask Stick is great for on-the-go use. Its stick format makes it easy and non-messy to apply. Meanwhile, it hydrates with the likes of mango seed butter, argan oil, squalane, and papaya seed oil. At the same time, its numerous antioxidants will help to keep your skin feeling safe from environmental damage.

If you’d prefer a mask that doesn’t need to be removed after 15 minutes, a leave-on mask would be a good option. The OROGOLD 24K Rose Gold Hydro Mask features a long list of hydrating ingredients. From sodium hyaluronate and seaweed extract to rosehip seed oil and avocado oil, a midday application of this mask will immediately send your skin hydration levels soaring.

Drink Extra Water

While topical hydration is the best way to quickly reach your thirsty skin cells, ensuring that your body is sufficiently hydrated will give your skin cells some moisture from within. By midday, hydration levels can start to dwindle in the body, making it important to top this up by drinking plenty of water.

By midday, you should have already consumed around four or five cups of water. This is what your body needs to stay sufficiently hydrated. If you haven’t been drinking enough, make an effort to catch up in the middle of the day.

Remember – you don’t need to limit yourself to plain water. Infused waters, herbal teas, and other healthy beverages that don’t contain sugar can all be good alternatives that provide additional benefits.

Eat More Water-Rich Foods for Lunch

Drinking water is important, but another way to boost skin hydration levels is to eat more water too! There are several foods out there that are known for having a very high water content. Make an effort to eat more of these for lunch and you’ll be giving your body and skin some extra moisture, as well as nutrition.

Some of the best water-rich foods to add to your lunches include:

  • Cucumber
  • Melons
  • Tomato
  • Lettuce
  • Celery
  • Berries
  • Bell pepper

Whether you add some of those vegetables to your lunchtime sandwiches or prep snack boxes containing bite-sized cubes of those water-rich foods, eating more water will complement the water that you drink, along with the moisture that you apply topically.

Adjusting Your Morning Skincare Routine Can Help Too

24K Mousse Cleanser

While a midday hydration boost can be beneficial for your skin, it can also help to adjust your morning skincare routine if you’ve noticed that it doesn’t seem to be seeing your skin through the day. Incorporating more hydrating products and ingredients, along with learning how to properly sandwich that hydration in, could mean that your skin will no longer require extra moisture midday.

To ensure that your morning skincare routine is up to scratch, start by using a hydrating cleanser. The OROGOLD 24K Mousse Cleanser boasts a selection of hydrating ingredients. It’s also a gentle formula, meaning that it won’t damage your skin barrier and interfere with natural moisture retention.

The next step would be to apply a couple of hydrating serums, followed by a hydrating face cream. This is known as moisture sandwiching. Each additional layer of hydration will push the moisture from the previous layer deeper into the skin. This leaves the skin feeling intensely quenched.

The 24K Termica Activation Serum would be a great one to start with. With sodium hyaluronate, seaweed extract, peptides, and more, it provides several sources of hydration. Follow this up with the 24K Nano Ultra Silk Serum. It’s a slightly richer formula because, in addition to containing hydrating humectants, like kelp and seaweed extracts, it has also been formulated with a few hydrating plant oils. These will lock the lighter ingredients into your skin. Apply a hydrating moisturizer over the top, like the OROGOLD 24K Rose Gold Advanced Cream, and your skin should feel deeply hydrated all day long.

Summary

If you want your skin to look and feel its best, keeping an eye on skin hydration is essential. The more moisture your skin has access to, the healthier it will feel, which is why a midday hydration boost can be such a game-changer for those who are struggling with a dehydrated complexion. Bump up your skin’s moisture levels and keep that consistent – you’ll soon notice that your skin takes on a newfound glow!

Spring Skincare Refresh: 8 Adjustments You Should Make This Season

woman flower

Now that spring is well and truly upon us, chances are that you’ve already made some changes to your wardrobe, swapping out those heavier winter pieces in favor of lighter and airier items that are better suited to the warmer months. Well, the same needs to happen with your skincare routine too! As the seasons change, so do your skin’s needs, making it important to adjust your routine where necessary to ensure that you’re meeting all of your skin’s requirements.

What changes do you need to make? Read on as OROGOLD shares some top tips for adapting your skincare routine to the spring season.

1) Make SPF a Priority

24K Skin Tone SPF30

Ideally, SPF should be a part of your skincare routine year-round. Even though the winter sun may not feel very strong, those UV rays are still capable of damaging your skin.

In the spring, however, they start to become more intense, making them even more capable of seriously harming your skin. Considering that UV rays are responsible for everything from wrinkles to hyperpigmentation to skin cancer, SPF needs to become a priority again now that the weather has started to warm up.

While many balk at the thought of wearing sunscreen because previous experiences have left their skin feeling greasy or looking overly pale, there are now more options out there than ever. Pick a lightweight SPF moisturizer, like the OROGOLD 24K Skin Tone SPF 30, and you won’t even realize that you’re wearing sunscreen! This cream also happens to be packed with antioxidants, which, as you’ll find out a little later, also need to be a big part of your spring skincare routine.

2) Combine Your Sunscreen With a Vitamin C Serum

24K Vitamin C Booster Serum

It’s worth going the extra mile when it comes to keeping your complexion safe from sun damage. This is why, in addition to ensuring that your skin is always covered with SPF, you should also make sure that your spring skincare routine contains a vitamin C serum.

Why? Firstly, because vitamin C is one of the best antioxidants around. Antioxidants are your best line of defense when it comes to preventing the appearance of environmental damage, a lot of which occurs in the spring and summer.

However, vitamin C has also been found to increase how protected the skin feels when used in combination with a sunscreen. Pair the two together, and you’ll do an even better job of preventing the appearance of sun damage.

At OROGOLD, we have a few serums that contain vitamin C. However, our 24K Vitamin C Booster Facial Serum is dedicated to the ingredient. This formula features two forms of vitamin C: tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate and ascorbyl palmitate. These are joined by vitamins A and E, along with wheat germ oil for fatty acids that leave the skin feeling ultra-supple.

3) Incorporate More Antioxidants

24K Kelp Caviar Micro-Bead Serum

We’ve mentioned antioxidants a few times now, and this is because these ingredients should be an integral part of your approach to spring skincare. As sun exposure starts to rise and environmental stressors increase, you need to ensure that your skin feels safe at all times, and this is exactly what antioxidants do.

While vitamin C may be one of the most talked-about antioxidants out there, there are plenty of others worth knowing too. The antioxidants in green tea, for example, which can be found in the 24K Kelp Caviar Micro Bead Serum, are known for being particularly powerful. They’re highly effective at preventing the appearance of environmental damage.

Grape seed oil is another ingredient that boasts potent antioxidants, some of which can’t be easily found in other ingredients. With that said, every plant extract out there will contain its own array of antioxidant compounds. For the best results, look for products that bring together several antioxidant sources, just like OROGOLD’s skincare products do!

4) Power Up Your Cleanser

24K Vitamin C Cleanser

Your skin’s sebaceous glands produce the natural oil that coats your skin’s surface. These glands are heavily influenced by heat and humidity. Once temperatures start to rise in the spring, they become more active, meaning that they produce more sebum.

People with dry skin tend to love this change as sebum has a moisturizing effect. However, those with oily skin aren’t quite so welcoming. All of that extra sebum on skin that’s already oily can quickly lead to clogged pores. This is one of the reasons why breakouts often become more prevalent in the spring and summer.

One way to counteract this is by switching to a slightly more powerful cleanser in the spring. You don’t want to overdo it with a formula that’s going to completely strip your skin dry, but going from, say, a mousse cleanser to a foaming cleanser could be a good move, especially if your skin type is oily.

If you’re really struggling with the excess grease, consider double cleansing when your skin feels particularly heavy. Start with an oil-based cleanser and then follow up with a water-based cleanser, like the 24K Vitamin C Facial Cleanser, to thoroughly clear away that oily feeling.

5) Consider Exfoliating More Often

24K MULTI-VITAMIN DEEP PEELING + MANDELIC ACID

It’s not just your cleansing efforts that might need to be increased in the spring – you may need to do the same with exfoliation. While this doesn’t apply quite so much to those with dry or sensitive skin types, it should definitely be a consideration if your skin type is combination or oily. Yes, upping your cleansing game will help to keep your skin grease-free, but as temperatures continue to rise, cleansing alone isn’t going to prevent clogged pores.

So, how often should you be exfoliating? If you were previously exfoliating your oily skin a couple of times a week in the winter, increase this to every other day.

However, choose an exfoliator that isn’t going to be overly harsh on your skin. With over-exfoliation often leaving the skin even greasier, this is the last thing you need! An exfoliator like the OROGOLD 24K Multi-Vitamin Deep Peeling + Mandelic Acid would be ideal. It efficiently removes excess grease without harming the skin’s protective barrier. It’s perfect for a spring and summer skincare routine.

6) Go For Lighter Textures

Golden Dew Serum In Cream

As we discussed above, oil production will start to increase in the spring. With sebum having the ability to naturally moisturize the skin, this means that you can go without the rich and heavy products that you were using in the winter months. Humidity will also be higher in the spring and summer, making it easier for your skin to stay hydrated.

This doesn’t mean that you should stop carrying out your skincare routine. Instead, swap those heavy products for lighter, water-based alternatives. You may want to cut back on how many different layers of skincare you use as well. It’s much easier for the skin to feel weighed down in the spring and summer.

One product that makes a great springtime replacement for a winter moisturizer is the OROGOLD 24K Golden Dew Serum-in-Cream. It feels like a serum yet functions like a cream when it comes to locking in moisture and keeping the skin feeling smooth. It’s packed with beneficial ingredients too, including niacinamide, squalane, grape seed extract, and peptides.

7) Give the Skin on Your Body Some Extra Attention

24K Classic Body Scrub

Now that spring is here, you can cast aside all of those heavy layers of clothing that you were wearing in the winter. The skin on your body will finally be able to see some light again! However, after a long winter tucked away beneath thick garments, there’s a good chance that the skin on your body could do with some TLC.

Start by ensuring that you’re regularly exfoliating your body. This will get rid of all of that dull-looking skin that built up over the winter. Salt scrubs, like the OROGOLD 24K Classic Body Scrub, are always a great option – salt is loaded with skin-loving minerals.

Keeping your body moisturized is essential too, especially if you want to glow from head to toe. The OROGOLD 24K Classic Body Butter will leave any dry areas of skin immediately feeling softer. Meanwhile, the 24K Classic Hand & Body Cream is a lighter formula that would be the better option if you know you’re going to be sweating throughout the day.

8) Spring Clean Your Skincare Stash

It’s not just your house that you should be thinking about spring cleaning at this time of year. Your skincare stash needs the same. Yes, adjusting your routine and putting away some of your heavier winter products is one aspect of this, but there are other things to think about too.

Making sure that all of your products are in-date is one. The last thing that you want to be doing is applying expired products with oxidized ingredients to your skin at a time when oxidative stress is already on the rise. While you’re at it, have a proper look through all of your in-date products too. If any of them look, smell, or feel different, throw them out.

Now would also be a good time to give any skincare or makeup tools a spring clean. Whether you use a cleansing brush, facial sponge, makeup brushes, or anything else, give everything, including the surfaces that they sit on, an extra clean.

Spring Skincare With OROGOLD

While you may be rejoicing in the arrival of the warmer weather, your skin is likely feeling a little wearier. Sure, it will enjoy a break from the dry and bitter conditions of winter, but it won’t be long before the scorching heat and environmental aggressors of the spring and summer months start to take a toll. If you want to keep your skin looking and feeling its best, it’s vital that you make the necessary adjustments to your skincare routine. Follow the tips that we’ve shared above and you should be able to do that easily, ensuring that your skin thrives throughout the season.
