The Secrets to a Youthful-Looking Neck and Décolletage

youthful neck

Did you know that the skin on your neck and chest is thinner than the skin on your face? This means that it’s more susceptible to damage, which is why the décolletage is usually one of the first areas to develop wrinkles, sagging skin, and dark spots. It doesn’t help that the neck is almost constantly in motion and, in this day and age, it spends a lot of time looking down at an electronic device. This exacerbates the creases that form, making the neck and chest look older.

So, what are the secrets behind achieving a décolletage that looks smooth and youthful? Follow these pro tips from OROGOLD and it won’t be long before your neck and chest take on a firmer and tighter finish.

Be Gentle When Cleansing and Exfoliating Your Décolletage

24K Mousse Cleanser

Just like the skin on your face, the skin on your décolletage needs to be regularly cleansed and exfoliated too. Fail to do this and not only will your skin take on a dull and rough appearance, but you could also end up dealing with acne in this area. Plus, all of the free radical damage caused by the impurities on your skin will only accelerate the skin aging process.

However, with the skin on your neck and chest being so thin and delicate, you need to treat it with care. Gentle skincare products are essential – avoid using any potent acids or harsh abrasive ingredients on this thin skin. You’ll only end up damaging it.

Instead, go with a formula like the OROGOLD 24K Mousse Cleanser for your daily cleanse. This cleanser contains several moisturizing ingredients, making it a great one for your face too!

In terms of exfoliation, if you currently use a high percentage AHA or BHA exfoliant on your face, avoid applying this to your décolletage too. Again, to keep this area looking youthful, being gentle is key. A product like the OROGOLD 24K Multi-Vitamin Deep Peeling + Mandelic Acid would be ideal. Mandelic acid is known for being the gentlest alpha-hydroxy acid. Meanwhile, the bamboo powder included in this formula physically exfoliates the skin, but softly and without causing any micro-tears.

Include Your Neck and Chest When Applying Sunscreen

24K Skin Tone SPF30

One big mistake that many people make is forgetting to apply their sunscreen to the neck and chest area. However, when it comes to keeping your skin looking youthful, sun protection is everything. After all, the sun’s UV rays are responsible for up to 80% of the wrinkles that develop on your face, neck, and chest. Keep those UV rays at bay and you’ll be able to maintain a youthful complexion for many years to come!

If you don’t yet have a go-to sunscreen, the OROGOLD 24K Skin Tone SPF 30 would be a great choice. This is a two-in-one product; a moisturizer as well as a sunscreen. Not only will it save you an extra step in your morning skincare routine but it will also treat your décolletage to some of the best ingredients around. Between green tea extract, aloe vera leaf extract, and vitamin E, it will keep your skin feeling wonderfully soft.

Of course, even if you’re diligent about applying sunscreen, let’s not forget that 100% protection is difficult to obtain. Fortunately, when it comes to your neck and chest, it’s easy enough to use clothing or accessories to add an extra layer of protection. Keep your chest covered with high-neck clothing or scarves and wear a wide-brimmed hat to shade your neck. The latter will shelter your face too, helping to keep the skin here looking youthful as well!

Apply Topical Antioxidants

Vitamin-C-serum

While prevention is always better than cure, chances are that the skin on your neck and chest has already undergone some damage over the years. If you’ve already been noticing fine lines and loose skin making an appearance, the best way to put a stop to that is to incorporate plenty of antioxidants into your skincare routine.

As mentioned, the majority of wrinkles are caused by UV exposure. UV rays trigger free radical damage in the skin, which is what speeds up the aging process. However, antioxidants can help to halt the appearance of free radical damage, enabling the complexion to hang on to its youthful luminosity for longer.

Which antioxidants should you be using? They’re all great, although it’s true that some are more powerful than others. Vitamin C, for example, is revered for being one of the best. This is down to its multi-tasking abilities. It’ll tighten, brighten, firm up, even out, and hydrate the complexion with regular use, making this antioxidant a must-have.

Vitamin A is another one that’s commonly recommended to those wanting to slow down the appearance of aging. However, avoid using retinol, which will likely be too potent for the thin skin on your neck. Instead, retinyl palmitate, a gentler derivative of vitamin A, would be more suitable.

You’ll find it, along with two forms of vitamin C plus vitamin E, in the OROGOLD 24K Vitamin C Booster Facial Serum. With these three antioxidants on your side, it won’t be long before you start to see a difference in how firm and youthful the skin on your neck looks.

Provide Plenty of Hydration

String Lift Sculpting System

An antioxidant serum is essential if you’re trying to achieve youthful-looking skin on your neck and chest. However, hydration is also key. After all, dehydrated skin cells will always look deflated and dull, no matter how many antioxidants you use.

So, how should you hydrate your décolletage?

Well, just like your face, start by splashing on a hydrating toner once you’re done cleansing. Try to apply this while your skin is still damp. Then, follow up with a hydrating serum. Again, apply this to damp skin. When it comes to picking the most hydrating serum, humectants, like hyaluronic acid and glycerin, are important ingredients to look out for. Their moisture-binding properties provide immediate hydration, leaving the skin looking plumper and fuller. The String Lift Sculpting System contains both. In fact, it boasts six forms of hyaluronic acid, along with a few other hydrating humectants!

The next step is to moisturizer, which we’re about to talk about in more detail…

Invest in a Dedicated Neck and Chest Cream

Neck-duo

It goes without saying that moisturizing is a crucial part of keeping any skin looking smooth and youthful. Not only does a moisturizer condition and lubricate the skin’s surface, immediately giving it a softer and dewier finish, but it also helps to lock in any other products that you’ve already applied. This gives those ingredients more time to work their way into your skin, rather than evaporating into the air soon after they’ve been applied.

However, let’s not forget that the skin on your décolletage is thinner and more delicate. This means that it has unique needs. Sure, using your facial moisturizer on your neck and chest is better than using a body cream or, worse still, no moisturizer at all, but a dedicated décolletage cream would be even better.

For this, we would recommend the OROGOLD 24K Neck Duo Treatment. This clever bottle actually contains two different products. The first is the 24K NeckLift Boosting Essence. It’s a lightweight serum infused with sodium hyaluronate, vitamin C, vitamin A, and a number of botanical extracts. Underneath it sits the 24K NeckLift Nutri-Cream. With shea butter, jojoba seed oil, green tea extract, hyaluronic acid, peptides, and amino acids, it won’t be long before it has your neck looking smoother and revitalized!

Pamper Your Décolletage With Masks

neck-lifting-chest-mask-box

In the same way that you treat the skin on your face to face masks, you should be doing the same with your décolletage too. Can you use the same masks that you use on your face on your neck and chest? Yes, so long as they’re not loaded with potent active ingredients that could irritate the thin skin on the décolletage. Hydrating, antioxidant-rich formulas, like the 24K Rose Gold Hydro Mask, will work wonders on both your face and décolletage!

However, if your neck and chest could do with some extra TLC, it could be worth investing in a dedicated décolletage mask. These contain ingredients that target the unique visible skin concerns experienced in this area. As a result, they can sometimes be more beneficial than a regular face mask.

The OROGOLD 24K Neck Lifting & Chest Firming Mask would be a fantastic choice. In addition to helping to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and sagging skin, it will also hydrate to eliminate the feeling of dryness.

Tackle Visible Skin Concerns With LED Light Therapy

Photonix-3 Neck Solution

Another way to achieve youthful-looking skin is with LED light therapy. Sure, this may seem more complex than topical skincare products but with the at-home devices now available, it’s easier to benefit from this technology than ever before.

How can LED light therapy help your décolletage? For starters, it will reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It will also leave your skin feeling tighter and more elastic while giving it a brighter and more radiant finish. It can soothe the feeling of inflammation too, evening out the look of redness and blotchiness.

If you’d like to give this tech a try, the Photonix-3 Neck Solution is an LED light therapy device that has been designed specifically for the décolletage. It features multiple modes, enabling you to customize each session to your skin’s needs. Use it two or three times a week and you should start seeing some big improvements in the look and feel of your neck and chest skin.

Achieve a Youthful-Looking Décolletage With OROGOLD

If you’ve been feeling concerned about how quickly your neck and chest have been aging, it’s time to do something about this. With the skin here being so thin and fragile, you need to take action quickly. Follow the tips that we’ve shared above while also keeping your lifestyle as healthy as possible and you’ll be able to enjoy youthful-looking skin for many more years to come!

The Benefits of Collagen: Why Your Skin Needs It

young woman

Collagen has become a big buzzword in the skincare world. Between collagen creams, supplements, injections, and more, it’s absolutely everywhere!

However, before jumping onto any skincare bandwagon, it always pays to do some research to ensure that you fully understand that new ingredient or technique that you’re yearning to try. When it comes to collagen, things aren’t quite as simple as they may seem…

So, read on as OROGOLD explains what collagen is, why your skin needs it, and how you can get more of it!

What is Collagen?

Collagen is a protein – a structural one, to be precise. This means that it forms the structure of the cells and tissues in the body. In fact, collagen happens to be the main structural protein in mammals, consisting of around 30% of the total protein in the body.

Where does collagen come from? The body produces it. Special cells called fibroblasts are responsible for producing new collagen, as well as for maintaining the integrity of existing collagen fibers. When you’re young, this process occurs at an optimum rate. However, as you grow older, fibroblast function slows down, meaning that the same happens with natural collagen production.

What Does Collagen Do For Your Skin?

So, why all the hype about collagen? What does it actually do for the skin?

Well, as mentioned, it’s a structural protein. This means that collagen is largely responsible for the structure of the skin. Think of it as scaffolding that holds your skin up from within. When this scaffolding network is strong and sturdy, it keeps the skin above it firm, full, and smooth. However, once that scaffolding begins to weaken and break, it’s no longer able to support the skin in the same way. This causes parts of the skin to start wrinkling and sagging, with this exacerbating as more collagen is lost.

Collagen also plays a crucial role when it comes to replacing dead skin cells. Your skin cells are produced in the deeper layers of your skin, with collagen providing a helping hand. These then move up to the surface layer, where they die off and are replaced by the newer skin cells that have been created with the assistance of collagen.

The Loss of Collagen

As we mentioned earlier, natural collagen production slows down with age. This process begins once you’re in your mid-20s. For the next decade, collagen production starts to dwindle by about 1% per year. Once you hit your 40s, this figure increases and then jumps again once menopause begins. This is one of the reasons why wrinkles and sagging skin are, in the end, inevitable.

However, other factors contribute to the decline in skin collagen levels too. Not only do the following affect the skin’s ability to produce new collagen fibers but they also weaken and damage existing collagen fibers:

  • Sun exposure – you’re probably aware of how excessive sun exposure can lead to wrinkles. This is down to how UV rays degrade collagen production and attack collagen fibers.
  • Dietary choices – research shows that certain foods, such as those that are highly processed or are full of sugar, reduces collagen production. They also inhibit how existing collagen fibers communicate with surrounding cells, which can affect the replacement of dead skin cells.
  • Smoking – smoking not only suffocates and dehydrates your skin but it also slowly destroys your skin’s collagen fibers.
  • Excessive alcohol consumption – drinking too much hinders collagen production in the skin while also hindering the ability of skin cells to repair themselves.

Understanding How Collagen Skincare Products Work

Once people start to see the effects of collagen loss in their skin, they seek out ways in which they can restore their collagen levels to regain the smooth and bouncy complexion of their youth. As a result, they often turn to collagen-infused skincare products, believing that these formulas will help to replenish the collagen that their skin has lost.

Unfortunately, topical collagen doesn’t work in this way. In most cases, those molecules are far too large to penetrate into the skin to the extent that they’re able to reach the deeper layers where your natural collagen fibers lie. Hydrolyzed collagen could be an exception. This ingredient features fragments of collagen, making it easier for the ingredient to penetrate the skin. However, whether or not they are able to bolster natural collagen remains up for discussion – there isn’t enough clinical research available yet to confirm this.

Does this mean that collagen-infused skincare is a con? Definitely not. Although topical collagen may not be able to replace natural collagen for the most part, it’s an ingredient that still offers some great benefits…

For starters, collagen is a natural humectant. This enables it to bind water to the skin. It boasts incredible moisturizing properties too. This is why the use of collagen skincare usually leaves the skin looking firmer and smoother. It also helps skin cells to feel supported and capable of functioning to the best of their abilities.

In fact, collagen is such a useful ingredient that you’ll find it in several OROGOLD products. Let’s take a closer look at a few of them:

The 24K Collagen Pre-Mask

Collagen-Pre-Mask

The OROGOLD 24K Collagen Pre-Mask is a unique product that perfectly preps the skin for a face mask. It starts off as a gel, turns into an oil, and then transforms into a foam that’s then rinsed off.

The soluble collagen in this formula is joined by several other hydrating ingredients. Between algae extract, vitamin E, and sweet almond oil, it will leave your skin cells feeling quenched and, therefore, more receptive to the ingredients in the mask that you’re about to apply.

The 24K Deep Tissue Rejuvenation Mask & Collagen Eye Renewal Mask

24K DEEP TISSUE REJUVENATION MASK & COLLAGEN EYE RENEWAL MASK

Want a collagen-infused face mask to use after applying the 24K Collagen Pre-Mask? Try the OROGOLD 24K Deep Tissue Rejuvenation Mask & Collagen Eye Renewal Mask.

This set of eye and face masks is formulated to deeply hydrate and plump up the complexion. Thanks to a blend of collagen, hyaluronic acid, and sea algae extract, it does this beautifully. Meanwhile, lavender oil and allantoin help to keep the skin feeling soothed and balanced.

The 24K Cryogenic Contour Eye Firming

Cryogenic Contour Eye Firming

The eye area often particularly benefits from topical collagen due to how the skin here is so much thinner. With the 24K Cryogenic Contour Eye Firming, you’ll soon be able to give the skin around your eyes a thicker and fuller feel.

Once again, collagen is a star ingredient in this formula. Other noteworthy compounds include green tea extract, vitamin E, panthenol, caffeine, and vitamin A. It’s a great product for countering the look of aging skin.

The Collagen Cooling Set Limited Edition

limited edition

As you can tell from the name, the Collagen Cooling Set Limited Edition is all about collagen! This set contains three collagen-infused skincare products:

The Facial Anti-Aging Firming System

Facial Anti-Aging Firming System

If you want your skin to look smoother and firmer, the Facial Anti-Aging Firming System is what you need. This duo consists of the Collagen Firming Mask Powder and the Firm Boost Essence, which you mix together yourself to create a formula that’s powerful enough to transform your complexion.

In this mask, hydrolyzed collagen is used in the powder. The essence features an action-packed blend of peptides, niacinamide, amino acids, sodium hyaluronate, and other hydrating ingredients. You should see a difference in your complexion immediately upon rinsing the mask off, with this continuing to improve after every use.

Is it Possible to Increase Natural Collagen Production With Skincare?

Vitamin-C-cleanser

Although topical collagen may not make much of a difference to the structural collagen in your skin, there are still other ingredients out there that can help to make your skin feel capable of producing more collagen.

Vitamin C is one. That’s how this powerful antioxidant is able to leave the skin looking smoother and firmer with regular use. For best results, use it in the form of a serum, like the OROGOLD 24K Vitamin C Booster Facial Serum. With two forms of vitamin C, along with other potent antioxidants, it won’t be long before your skin is looking younger.

The 24K Vitamin C Facial Cleanser is another way to add this superstar to your skincare routine. Combine it with the serum above and you’ll be giving your skin a double dose of this much-loved ingredient.

Retinol is another ingredient worth having in your skincare arsenal. You’ll find it in the OROGOLD 24K Multi Vitamin Night Nourishment + Retinol. This nighttime moisturizer is designed to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and dark spots while also providing the skin with enough hydration to see it through until morning.

What About Diet and Collagen Supplements?

Another way to help your skin produce plenty of collagen while also supporting your existing collagen fibers is to eat the right foods. Quality proteins will give your skin the tools that it needs to build more collagen while collagen itself can also be found in the following foods:

  • Beef
  • Fish
  • Gelatin
  • Bone broth
  • Chicken and pork skin

Eating more vitamin C, which is a key element in collagen production, can help too, so start snacking on citrus fruits, strawberries, broccoli, and other vitamin C-rich foods!

Summary

Collagen is such a crucial part of your skin, which is why the complexion tends to take a downturn once collagen production begins to decline. Fortunately, there’s plenty that you can do about this. Between using the right skincare products, protecting against collagen loss, and eating the right foods, you’ll be able to keep your skin looking smooth and feeling firm well into your later years!

How to Choose the Right Moisturizer for Your Skin Type

woman moisturizer

Moisturizing is an essential part of skincare, which is why every good skincare routine contains a moisturizer of some sort. However, choosing the right moisturizer can be tricky…

The best way to find a moisturizer that will give your skin all that it needs is by looking for a formula that is fully compatible with your skin type. How exactly do you do this? Read on as OROGOLD explains!

Determining Your Skin Type

24K Mousse Cleanser

It goes without saying that if you want to ensure that your moisturizer is suitable for your skin type, you need to first make sure that you know what your skin type is! With skin type being something that can change as you progress through your life, it’s important to periodically assess your skin to keep your skincare efforts on the right track.

Fortunately, determining your skin type is a quick and easy process! Start by cleansing your skin with a gentle cleanser, like the OROGOLD 24K Mousse Cleanser. After patting your skin dry, leave it bare for half an hour. Then, take a good look in the mirror and decide which of the following skin types your skin best resembles:

Choosing a Moisturizer for Your Skin Type

Now that you know what your skin type is, let’s take a look at how to choose the right moisturizer:

Dry Skin

24K Overnight Cream

If your skin type is dry, this means that your skin isn’t producing enough sebum. Since sebum works as a natural moisturizer, the moisturizer that you choose will have to work double time to compensate for this lack of natural sebum.

The best moisturizers for the job are rich formulas that offer a selection of emollients, occlusives, and humectants. The humectants will draw moisture to the skin, the emollients will fill in the tiny gaps in your skin’s surface, and the occlusives will form a seal over your skin to lock all of that goodness in.

This is something that the OROGOLD 24K Overnight Cream excels at. With shea butter, hemp seed oil, grape seed oil, cucumber fruit extract, vitamin E, and peptides, it does all of the above plus more. It also contains a number of botanicals, from oats to chamomile, that will keep your skin feeling soothed since dry skin is prone to discomfort and sensitivities.

Oily Skin

24K HD Touch and Termica Completion Cream

With oily skin producing extra sebum, you may think that you don’t need to moisturize it. However, this isn’t true. Your complexion still needs the hydration and moisture barrier provided by a moisturizer. Yes, some moisturizers will leave you with clogged pores and an increase in breakouts, but choose the right moisturizer and you won’t have to deal with that.

The key is to find a formula that hydrates the skin with lightweight humectants, without containing any heavier ingredients that could end up clogging your pores. One such product is the OROGOLD 24K Termica HD Solution. Thanks to sodium hyaluronate, algae extract, glycerin, and cucumber fruit extract, it provides plenty of hydration. Meanwhile, its antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals will give your complexion an additional boost.

Combination Skin

24K Deep Moisturizer

When choosing a moisturizer for combination skin, you have two options…

The first is to treat each area of your face uniquely. This essentially means investing in two separate moisturizers, one for dry skin and the other for oily skin. You would then apply the dry skin moisturizer to the dry areas of your face and the oily skin moisturizer to the greasier parts of your face.

If this sounds like a lot of hassle, option two might be best for you. This simply involves finding a moisturizer that can safely be used on both dry and oily skin, just like the OROGOLD 24K Deep Moisturizer. It’s rich enough to keep dry skin moisturized but doesn’t contain any heavy, pore-clogging ingredients.

Sensitive Skin

Golden Dew Serum In Cream

Caution is key when choosing a moisturizer for sensitive skin. As you’ll know, it doesn’t take much for this skin type to react, meaning that you’ll need to find a formula with minimal irritants.

Since sensitive skin is so prone to inflammation, a moisturizer that’s capable of soothing the feeling of inflammation will help to keep your complexion calm and happy.

The OROGOLD 24K Golden Dew Serum-in-Cream does this beautifully. Although it’s lightweight, it’s packed with hydrating and moisturizing ingredients, including avocado oil, sweet almond oil, squalane, grape seed oil, and vitamin E. It also contains niacinamide, which has been proven to leave the skin barrier feeling stronger and better supported. That’s exactly what sensitive skin needs!

Normal Skin

24K Skin Tone SPF30

Normal skin is the easiest skin type to work with. Why? Because so long as the moisturizer you choose isn’t designed for an extreme skin type, such as severely oily skin, your skin will more than likely react well to it.

With that said, one thing to keep in mind is sun protection. While you could go ahead and use a separate sunscreen, a two-in-one SPF moisturizer, like the OROGOLD 24K Skin Tone SPF 30, is often much more convenient!

Consider Your Visible Skin Concerns Too

24K ROSE GOLD RADIANT SILK CREAM

Now that you know how to pick the perfect moisturizer for your skin type, it’s time to take your visible skin concerns into consideration too. Ideally, the moisturizer that you choose should go some way in helping you to deal with these.

Say, for example, you have dry skin and wrinkles. This means that not only will you need a rich moisturizer to counter the dryness, but you should also look for a formula with plenty of antioxidants to help combat the appearance of aging. A moisturizer like the OROGOLD 24K Rose Gold Advanced Cream would be great for this!

Likewise, if you have oily skin that looks dull and inflamed, you’ll need a lightweight moisturizer that’s capable of soothing and cooling your complexion. The Advanced Soothing Cool Cream from the Collagen Cooling Set Limited Edition will do just that!

Take the Time of Day Into Account

24K Multi-Vitamin Day Moisturizer + Amino Acid

When choosing a moisturizer, it’s also important to consider the time of day. Why? Because your skin’s needs will vary based on this.

During the day, your skin works hard to fight off environmental aggressors. Between the sun, pollution, chemicals, and more, it would benefit from some extra support! This is what a targeted day moisturizer, such as the 24K Multi-Vitamin Day Moisturizer + Amino Acid, is designed to provide.

In the evenings, however, your skin switches roles. It now focuses on repairing any damage that occurred during the day. It’s a tough job that requires plenty of moisture, which is why extra hydration is helpful in the evenings too. This is when a dedicated night moisturizer, like the 24K Multi-Vitamin Night Nourishment + Retinol, is extremely useful.

Don’t Let the Seasons Catch You Out

If all of that wasn’t enough, there’s one more thing to consider when choosing a moisturizer…

The time of year is very important. Just like the time of day, your skin’s needs will differ depending on the season. In the summer, it produces more sebum. This means that thick moisturizers usually aren’t needed, even if you have dry skin. However, in the winter when sebum production declines, all skin types will need a richer moisturizer to compensate for this, along with the extra loss in hydration caused by winter weather.

Making the Most of Your Moisturizer

Now that you’re well-equipped to choose the perfect moisturizer for your skin, here are a few tips that will help you to make the most of your choice:

Always Cleanse Your Face First

One important rule to follow is to never moisturize dirty skin. This will only trap all of that dirt into your skin, leaving your complexion congested and dull. You’ll also be more prone to acne breakouts, no matter your skin type!

So, before moisturizing, always cleanse first. Then, follow the next of our tips…

Apply Your Moisturizer to Damp Skin

If you’re keeping your skincare routine minimal, this usually means following your cleanser with a moisturizer. If this is the case, make sure that you don’t fully dry your skin after cleansing.

Why? Because applying a moisturizer to damp skin helps to trap that extra moisture. Instead of evaporating away, your moisturizer will push it deeper down, further quenching thirsty skin.

Use Your Moisturizer to Lock in Toners and Serums

Think you could skip the moisturizer because you’re applying a few different serums instead?

While you may sometimes get away with this in the summer if you have oily skin, it’s not a good habit to get into. Not only does your skin need a proper moisturizer but a moisturizer is also a great way to lock your other skincare products into your skin. Layer them correctly before finishing with a moisturizer and they’ll be able to work their magic much more efficiently.

Summary

Your skin type should always be your first point of call when choosing any skincare product, including a moisturizer. However, don’t forget to take other factors, from your visible skin concerns to the time of day/year, into consideration too. Find a moisturizer that meets all of those various requirements and your skin will soon start to look healthier and happier than ever!

Everything You Need to Know About Double Cleansing

woman cleansing face

The concept of double cleansing has become increasingly popular lately, with more and more people swearing by this cleansing technique. If you’ve been wondering what all of the fuss is about and whether or not you should be double cleansing too, you’ve come to the right place! Keep reading as OROGOLD talks you through everything you need to know about double cleansing so that you can make the best decision for your skin.

What is Double Cleansing?

Double cleansing originated in Asia – it’s a key component of the famous 10-step Korean skincare routine. In many ways, its name is pretty self-explanatory; double cleansing involves cleansing your skin twice, instead of just once.

While you could use the same cleanser for each cleanse, the benefits of double cleansing are seen best when two different cleansers are used. The first should be an oil-based cleanser and the second should be a water-based cleanser.

The Benefits of Double Cleansing

Why would you want to go through the trouble of using two different cleansers instead of just one? The main reason is that this provides you with a much more thorough cleanse.

People often forget that oil repels water. This means that using a water-based cleanser on its own won’t effectively remove the excess sebum and oil-based impurities, such as SPF and pollutants, that are coating your skin’s surface. An oil-based cleanser, on the other hand, will dissolve the oil on your skin, after which you’ll then be able to rinse everything away.

Likewise, use just an oil-based cleanser and the water-based impurities on your skin, such as sweat and general dirt, will remain partially untouched.

By ensuring that both oil-based and water-based impurities have been fully removed, double cleansing can leave the skin looking clearer and brighter. It’s a more efficient way to prevent clogged pores too, which can help to counter the appearance of acne.

Many rave about how double cleansing is also a gentler way to cleanse. Often, when people aren’t seeing satisfactory results from a single cleanse, they tend to switch to a more potent cleanser. Exposing your skin to so many powerful surfactants can end up damaging the skin’s natural protective barrier. With double cleansing, you can use two gentle cleansers yet achieve incredible results.

An extra benefit to giving your skin such a thorough cleanse is that the rest of your skincare products will have easier access to your skin cells. There won’t be any lingering impurities creating obstacles. Instead, the products that you apply after double cleansing will be able to quickly sink in and work their magic.

Should You Be Double Cleansing?

As you can see, there are some big benefits to double cleansing. However, is it something that you should, or need to, be doing? This all depends on your skin type, as well as your lifestyle.

Oily/Combination Skin

Vitamin-C-cleanser

If you have oily or combination skin, double cleansing can be extremely helpful. Since you’ll be prone to clogged pores and acne breakouts, giving your skin a better cleanse will help to keep your complexion clear and pimple-free. Try to make sure that one of the cleansers you use contains ingredients that are geared toward oily skin. The OROGOLD 24K Vitamin C Facial Cleanser, which boasts vitamin C, witch hazel extract, licorice root extract, and lactic acid would be a great choice!

Exposure to Pollutants

Bird Nest Collection

If you live in a polluted part of the world, then, again, double cleansing can be useful. Failing to remove the pollutants that have attached themselves to your skin’s surface accelerates oxidative damage. To give your complexion even more of a boost, make sure that at least one of the cleansers you use is packed with antioxidants. The Skin Balancing Facial Cleanser from the Bird Nest Collection, for example, is loaded with a selection of antioxidant-rich botanical extracts. These will help to counter the appearance of free radical damage caused by pollution.

Dry/Sensitive Skin

Orogold-White-Gold-Mousse

If your skin type is dry or sensitive, you need to be careful about double cleansing. You won’t have quite as much of a need for it as oily/combination skin, but it can still certainly be beneficial at times.

The key to double cleansing without harming your skin’s already compromised protective barrier is to ensure that you’re using very gentle cleansers. The OROGOLD 24K Mousse Cleanser would be a great addition to your double cleansing routine. It’s full of ingredients that will hydrate, moisturize, and soothe your complexion, enabling you to give double cleansing a try without having to worry about irritating your skin.

How to Double Cleanse

Once you’ve found two cleansers that are suitable for your skin, you can get started with double cleansing.

The first step is to apply your oil-based cleanser. While some people may choose to use a makeup remover first, this isn’t always necessary, especially if your makeup is light. Your oil-based cleanser should be able to remove the majority of this, and your water-based cleanser will later sweep any remnants away.

Once you’ve massaged your oil-based cleanser onto your skin for 30-60 seconds, rinse it off with lukewarm water. Then, while your skin is still wet, apply your water-based cleanser. Work this into your skin gently but thoroughly. Not only do you want to remove the water-based impurities from your skin, but you should also be focusing on ensuring that there aren’t any traces of your oil-based cleanser left behind.

Finish by rinsing your water-based cleanser off your face. Again, use lukewarm water to do this. Although it may not feel quite as satisfying as a warmer temperature, hot water will damage your skin’s protective barrier. The whole point of double cleansing is to provide a deep cleanse without causing damage, so hot water will only work against that.

Should you pat your face dry once you’re done double cleansing? Yes, but only partially. Ideally, whether the next step in your routine is a toner, a serum, a moisturizer, or anything else, you want to apply this next product while your skin is still damp. Wet skin is more permeable than dry skin, which will help to maximize the absorption of your next product.

When to Double Cleanse

Now that you know how to double cleanse, let’s talk about when you should be doing it. Just because it has its benefits doesn’t mean that you should suddenly start double cleansing twice a day, every day.

Instead, double cleansing is usually best done at night. This way, you’ll be able to thoroughly remove all of the impurities that have built up on your skin over the course of the day. Double cleanse in the evening and a single cleanse should be all that your skin needs come morning.

With that said, double cleansing shouldn’t necessarily be done every evening. You may find this advantageous if your skin is excessively oily but, for other skin types, your skin won’t need such a deep cleanse daily. This will only leave you susceptible to the symptoms of over-cleansing (more on this soon!). Instead, save your double cleanse for when your skin genuinely needs it.

Taking it Further With the Triple Cleanse

If double cleansing weren’t enough, many K-beauty enthusiasts are now raving about the triple cleanse. Again, this is exactly what it sounds like – cleansing your skin three times instead of just once (or twice!).

A triple cleanse can take many forms. Some choose to start with a cleansing wipe, follow up with an oil-based cleanser, and then finish with a water-based cleanser. Others like to introduce a cream cleanser in between their oil-based and water-based cleansers.

Either way, for most people, triple cleansing regularly will likely be too much for your skin. By all means, give it a try if your skin seems to need it but don’t be persuaded into following this trend if double cleansing is already getting the job done for you.

Make Sure That You Don’t Over-Cleanse

24K Purifying Toner

While some dermatologists fully support the double cleansing technique, others warn to be cautious. Why? Because over-cleansing is a very real problem, and double cleansing when your skin doesn’t actually need to be cleansed twice can quickly cause issues.

The more you cleanse your skin, the more you run the risk of disrupting your skin’s natural protective barrier. Sure, splashing on a toner afterward can help to leave the skin feeling more balanced. However, this isn’t going to compensate for the fact that you’ve removed too much of your skin barrier.

If you accidentally end up over-cleansing, some of the symptoms you might notice are:

  • Redness and inflammation
  • Dryness and flakiness
  • An itchy sensation
  • Skin that feels uncomfortably tight
  • A stinging or burning sensation
  • Increased sensitivities
  • Breakouts, particularly small pimples

What should you do if you suspect that you’ve been over-cleansing?

Give your skin a complete break for a few days. Then, introduce a very gentle cleanser back into your skincare routine. Start by using it in the evenings only, going with just a water rinse in the mornings. Once your skin has fully recovered, you can then start single cleansing twice a day again. However, be very wary about double cleansing in the future as you don’t want to continue damaging your skin’s protective barrier.

Conclusion: Is Double Cleansing Worth Trying?

When it comes down to it, yes, double cleansing is definitely worth a try. Doing it occasionally, when your skin is crying out for a more thorough cleanse, is very unlikely to cause any problems. If you have oily skin or you spend a lot of time in polluted or dirty environments, double cleansing on a regular basis can be very beneficial too.

However, be careful not to overdo it. Don’t start double cleansing just because it’s trending. Instead, make sure that your skin actually needs to be cleansed twice before hopping onto the double cleansing bandwagon.

Is Your Skincare Routine Actually Hurting Your Skin?

woman disappointed

People have the best intentions when putting together a skincare routine, believing that their efforts will lead them to the flawless-looking skin they’re seeking. In many cases, this is true – the right skincare routine can work wonders for your complexion!

However, if you happen to somehow go wrong with your skincare routine, the opposite can happen. Instead of helping your skin, you could end up harming it, with this damage compounding each time you carry that routine out.

How do you know which side of the line your own skincare routine falls on? Read on as OROGOLD shares some of the most common signs of a harmful skincare routine, along with tips on what you can do to put things right!

You’re Breaking Out More Than Usual

Ideally, your skincare routine should put a stop to the appearance of breakouts. However, if you’ve been noticing an increase in acne, even with the stellar skincare routine you’ve been following, then this is a sign that something has gone wrong somewhere.

Unsuitable Skincare Products

If your skin is naturally oily, then the extra breakouts could be down to your skincare routine containing a comedogenic product. These are products that contain pore-clogging ingredients. They’re not a problem for dry skin types but they exacerbate breakouts in oily skin.

To figure out which product is the problem, you’ll need to scour the ingredient lists of all of them. If you spot any heavy, pore-clogging ingredients on there, swap those products for more suitable alternatives.

Purging

Multi-Vitamin Night Nourishment + Retinol

Sometimes, when new active ingredients are introduced to the skin, this stimulates certain processes that cause the skin to purge its toxins and impurities. In the long run, this is good. However, when it’s actually happening, with breakouts being one of the symptoms, it’s frustrating to deal with!

To prevent this, be careful when introducing powerful ingredients, such as retinol, to your skincare routine. Either go with a product that combines retinol with ingredients that soothe and calm the complexion, like the OROGOLD 24K Multi-Vitamin Night Nourishment + Retinol, or start with a product that contains a gentler derivative. The 24K Nano Day Recovery, for example, is formulated with retinyl palmitate. It’s milder than retinol but still produces similar visible results in the end, yet without the purging and irritation that retinol can cause.

Your Skin Feels Oilier Than Usual

Whether your usually dry skin suddenly feels oily or your already oily skin feels excessively greasy, this could be down to your skincare routine…

Dehydration

Golden Dew Serum In Cream

Many don’t realize that there’s a very strong link between dehydration and oiliness. If your skin is lacking water, it tries to compensate for this by producing extra oil.

To get your complexion back into balance, focus on providing plenty of hydration. The OROGOLD 24K Golden Dew Serum-in-Cream is loaded with hydrating compounds that will soon have your skin’s moisture content feeling replenished.

At the same time, make sure that your skincare routine isn’t dehydrating your skin. If you’re using overly harsh products on your skin, in the form of exfoliators, cleansers, or active ingredients, this could be damaging your skin’s protective barrier. One of the side effects of this is dehydration, due to how your skin barrier will no longer be able to keep moisture trapped in. Try toning down your skincare routine to keep it as gentle as possible.

Hormones

Of course, sometimes a skincare routine isn’t to blame when it comes to oiliness. Hormones have a huge impact on the skin’s sebaceous glands. If your body is going through hormonal fluctuations, whether due to menstruation, pregnancy, menopause, medications, or anything else, this could stimulate your sebaceous glands into producing more oil, hence the extra oiliness you’re dealing with.

You’ve Noticed Dry and Flaky Patches on Your Skin

If you’ve been noticing dry and flaky patches popping up around your face, there’s a good chance that your skincare routine has something to do with this.

Not Adequately Catering to Dry Skin

24K Deep Moisturizer

If your skin type is naturally dry, you’ll be more prone to flaky patches. These occur due to the lack of sebum in dry skin. Sebum conditions and moisturizes the skin – something that dry skin types miss out on.

The solution is to make up for this lack of sebum by giving your skin plenty of rich moisturizing ingredients. Look for thick creams that are brimming with fatty acids and plant oils, just like the OROGOLD 24K Deep Moisturizer. Don’t limit yourself to moisturizing just twice a day either. If your skin needs more than this, then give it what it’s craving.

At the same time, make sure that you’re not using any products that are further drying out your skin. Formulas containing astringents, alcohols, and sulfates will only make your dryness worse.

Over-Cleansing/Over-Exfoliating

24K Mousse Cleanser

It can be tempting to turn to cleansing/exfoliating as a way to eliminate the dry patches on your face. However, if yours have been caused by over-cleansing or over-exfoliating, you’ll only make matters worse.

Both of these issues cause problems with the skin’s natural protective barrier. Dry patches are a common symptom, as are redness, breakouts, and general irritation. If you think that your cleansing/exfoliating regimen could be to blame, stop exfoliating for a while and switch to a gentle cleanser. The OROGOLD 24K Mousse Cleanser would be ideal. Once your skin has had some time to heal, gradually introduce a gentle exfoliator, like the 24K Multi-Vitamin Deep Peeling + Mandelic Acid, back into your skincare routine.

Your Skin Looks Irritated, Red, and Inflamed

If your skin is naturally very sensitive, the inflammation that you’re dealing with could be due to a variety of environmental factors. However, at the same time, your skincare routine, which should be working to calm your complexion, could be making things worse.

Irritants

There are many skincare ingredients out there that are known irritants. Why are they still used in skincare? Because they don’t cause problems for everyone and some of them do play important roles in skincare formulations.

With that said, there are plenty of products out there that don’t contain irritants, and these are the ones that you should be seeking out if your skin is feeling inflamed. Ideally, avoid ingredients like sulfates, fragrances, petrochemicals, and silicones, at least until your skin feels happier and calmer.

Too Many Products/Active Ingredients

24K Overnight Cream

While long skincare routines can be great for some, they spell bad news for others. Why? Because the more products you apply to your skin, the greater your chances of exposing your skin to the irritants that we mentioned above.

Plus, you also run the risk of mixing incompatible ingredients. If a few of your products also contain potent active ingredients, layering these over each other could be causing your irritation too.

Fortunately, the solution to this one is simple. Take your skincare routine back to basics for a while. In the mornings, you only need two products; a gentle cleanser and an SPF moisturizer, like the OROGOLD 24K Skin Tone SPF 30. In the evenings, use your cleanser again and then follow up with a rich night cream, such as the 24K Overnight Cream.

Helping Your Skin to Recover

Hopefully, you’re now able to pinpoint whether or not your skincare routine is harming your skin. We’ve already shared a few tips on overcoming the various issues that we’ve discussed above, but here are some more to help ensure that you don’t suffer from the same problems again:

Reassess Your Skin Type

Did you know that your skin type can change throughout your life? Everything from aging to hormones to your environment can cause this. Either way, if you’ve incorrectly identified your skin type, then this means that the products you’re using won’t be caring for your skin in the right way.

This is why it’s worth regularly reassessing your skin type. A couple of times a year, give your face a cleanse and then leave it bare for half an hour. Then, closely examine your skin to see which of the skin types it best correlates with.

Always Patch Test New Products

Thinking of adding a new product to your skincare routine? Before you do so, make sure that you perform a patch test.

Never done a patch test before? It involves applying a small amount of your new product to a patch of skin on your inner arm. Wait for 24-48 hours (go with 48 if your skin is naturally sensitive) to see how your skin reacts. If all is well, repeat the test but with a small patch of skin on your face this time. Again, if you don’t have any problems, then the rest of your skin will likely happily tolerate that product.

Pay Attention to the Seasons

Did you know that your skin’s needs change based on the time of year? This is why it’s so important to adapt your skincare routine to the season you’re currently in.

In the winter months, the air is cold and dry, which saps moisture from the skin. You’ll need to compensate for this with richer products. However, in the summer, the heat and humidity stimulate the sebaceous glands. With the skin now producing more oil, those thicker products that you were using in the winter will only cause breakouts. At this time of year, a lighter skincare routine is essential.

With spring and fall being transitional months, you’ll likely need to dip in and out of both your summer and winter skincare routines. Pay attention to the weather and try to tailor your routine to meet the requirements that your skin will have that day.

Creating the Perfect Skincare Routine

It’s so easy to make a mistake when putting together a skincare routine, but the consequences of this could mean months of recovery for your skin. Ideally, as soon as you notice a new skin concern starting to arise, try to figure out the cause ASAP. If you suspect that your skincare routine could be to blame, make the necessary changes so as to not risk causing long-term damage to your complexion.

How to Deal With Oily Skin: Skincare Tips and Products

woman oily skin

Oily skin can be a very difficult skin type to deal with, with all of that extra sebum produced by the skin often leading to clogged pores, acne breakouts, and an excessively greasy appearance. It doesn’t help that sebum production is so heavily influenced by genetics and hormones. Trying to fight with nature can make caring for oily skin feel like such an uphill battle!

The good news is that it doesn’t need to be this way. Sure, your oily skin may be out of your control in some ways but, even then, this is only to an extent. With the right knowledge, as well as the right skincare products, your oily skin problems could soon be a thing of the past! Read on as OROGOLD shares everything you need to know.

Keep Your Skin Clean…But Not Too Clean

Orogold-White-Gold-Mousse

Cleansing is one of the most important aspects of caring for oily skin. It’ll clear away a large amount of the excess sebum that’s lingering on your skin’s surface. This will prevent that sebum from clogging up your pores and contributing to breakouts.

With that said, many people with oily skin make the mistake of over-cleansing. In some ways, this is understandable. That squeaky clean, non-greasy feeling that oily skin takes on after a thorough cleanse can be oh-so-satisfying! However, as you may know, that feeling doesn’t last for long. Your skin will soon produce more sebum to replace what you’ve removed, and the more you remove, the more it will produce.

This is why over-cleansing can be so detrimental, causing your skin to end up even oilier. Over-cleansing occurs for two reasons; cleansing too often or using a cleanser that’s unnecessarily powerful. Both need to be avoided if you’re hoping to one day gain some control over how oily your skin feels.

This means cutting down your cleansing habits to just twice a day; morning and night. If your skin feels particularly greasy in the evenings, a double cleanse can help with this. Either way, make sure that you’re using a cleanser that isn’t going to completely strip your skin dry. The OROGOLD 24K Mousse Cleanser would be a great choice!

Use a Toner That Soothes the Complexion

24K Purifying Toner

Oily skin is highly susceptible to inflammation. Why? Because clogged pores are so common and it doesn’t take long for those blockages to end up inflamed. Oily skin is also easily aggravated, which, once again, leads to inflammation.

Inflammation is the last thing that you want to be dealing with because this can quickly trigger breakouts. Unfortunately, cleansing, which can’t be avoided, especially with oily skin, can sometimes cause inflammation. This will be particularly prevalent if you’re using a harsh cleanser.

While adjusting your cleansing habits to keep things gentle will help you to overcome this, a toner would also be a very useful way to keep your skin feeling calm and happy. With that said, be wary of toners that have been formulated specifically for oily skin. Many of them contain ingredients that are overly drying. Sure, they may seem to quickly zap away all of that sebum but, just like over-cleansing, those formulas will only leave your skin oilier in the long run.

Instead, look for a toner that has been designed to hydrate and soothe the complexion, just like the OROGOLD 24K Purifying Toner. Thanks to a blend of aloe vera, chamomile, and cucumber, it’s a superstar at reducing the feeling of inflammation!

Don’t Over-Exfoliate

24K Multi-Vitamin Peeling

We’ve already talked about how over-cleansing can be extremely detrimental to oily skin. However, over-exfoliating has the same effect. In fact, over-exfoliating can be even worse, requiring you to completely stop exfoliating for a few months. As you can imagine, this can be a nightmare for oily skin as it means that you won’t be able to clear out clogged pores, leading to an increase in breakouts.

So, how do you avoid over-exfoliating?

It starts by ensuring that you’re not exfoliating too often. Oily skin shouldn’t be exfoliated more than three times a week. If your skin is excessively oily, this may not seem like enough but add a clay mask into your weekly skincare routine (which we’ll be talking about next), and, along with the other tips that we’re sharing, you shouldn’t have any issues keeping that grease under control.

The next step is to make sure you’re using the right exfoliator. Face scrubs aren’t the best option for oily skin. Although they do a thorough job of exfoliating the skin, they can cause micro-tears that exacerbate oiliness and acne. Plus, if you already have acne, rubbing a scrub over your face will only spread all of that acne-causing bacteria around, leaving you with even more spots!

This is why people with oily skin tend to favor chemical exfoliants, like the mandelic acid that you’ll find in the OROGOLD 24K Multi-Vitamin Deep Peeling + Mandelic Acid. Mandelic acid is one of the gentler exfoliating acids out there, making it a good one to start with if you’re new to the world of chemical exfoliation. Once your skin has grown accustomed to it, you can always switch to a more powerful acid in the future.

Treat Your Skin to a Weekly Clay Mask

Green Mask

Adding a clay mask to your skincare routine can be a game-changer for people with oily skin. Clay is a fantastic ingredient for absorbing excess sebum. At the same time, it doesn’t actually exfoliate the skin. With that said, you still shouldn’t use a clay mask more than once a week as this would risk dehydrating your skin.

At OROGOLD, we have a few different clay masks that you can choose from. The 24K Advanced Facial Mask is one. This mask brings together two types of clay; bentonite and kaolin. It combines these with several hydrating ingredients, including seaweed extract, collagen, and hemp seed oil. It’s also packed with vitamins A and E, along with an array of antioxidant-rich plant extracts.

The OROGOLD 24K Termica Energizing Mask is another option. This one features kaolin, which is known for being the gentlest of clays. While that may be the case, this mask is still extremely effective, largely due to its thermal properties. Apply the mask to your face and it will gradually produce a gentle heat that leaves the pores feeling more elastic. This enables the clay to draw out more oil.

Protect Your Skin From UV Rays

24K Skin Tone SPF30

Sun exposure can sometimes seem to be beneficial for oily skin due to how it can dry up excess sebum. However, this isn’t actually a good thing…

While UV rays may leave your skin feeling temporarily less greasy, they end up doing more harm than good. The way in which the sun dehydrates the skin can, over time, stimulate the skin’s sebaceous glands into producing even more oil. The sun also triggers inflammation in the skin, which can make acne breakouts so much worse.

Protecting your skin from UV rays, on the other hand, will help to keep your complexion healthier. Plus, you also won’t have to deal with the accelerated aging, discoloration, and skin cancer that sun exposure can cause.

The issue that those with oily skin have with this is finding a sunscreen that isn’t going to clog pores or lead to breakouts. Many sunscreens can leave the skin feeling even greasier, which is the last thing that you want!

The key is to look for a lightweight formula. Instead of a regular sunscreen, consider an SPF moisturizer, like the OROGOLD 24K Skin Tone SPF 30. Not only does this cream provide broad-spectrum protection, but it also provides a selection of antioxidants to keep your skin feeling its best.

Prioritize Hydration

Termica-Serum

As we’ve just discussed, dehydration can lead to an increase in sebum production. So, it goes without saying that if you have oily skin, dehydration is something to avoid as much as possible!

How do you ensure that your skin remains sufficiently hydrated?

Start by drinking eight glasses of water a day. This will help to keep your body hydrated, meaning that your skin will benefit from this too.

Hydrating skincare products are also important. With that said, you’ll need lightweight hydrating ingredients, as opposed to thick plant oils that are likely to clog your pores. Look for ingredients like sodium hyaluronate, glycerin, seaweed extracts, and peptides. You’ll find them all in the OROGOLD 24K Termica Activation Serum. Better yet, this serum contains licorice root extract and kojic acid to lighten the look of dark spots and acne marks, witch hazel extract to make your pores look smaller, and a variety of skin-loving vitamins and antioxidants.

Use Blotting Paper to Quickly De-Grease

Need to de-grease in an emergency? Blotting paper can really come to the rescue in situations like this. It’s a great way to quickly soak up excess sebum during the day in between cleanses.

However, make sure that you use the correct technique when blotting your face. Don’t rub the paper over your face as this will only spread the oil everywhere. Instead, gently press a piece of blotting paper against your skin and hold it there for a few seconds to give it a chance to absorb some oil, before removing it.

To avoid drying your skin out too much, which, as you know, will only leave you oilier, consider following up with a hydrating face mist or toner.

Caring for Oily Skin With OROGOLD

Although having oily skin can feel incredibly frustrating at times, don’t forget that it does come with a few advantages too! All of that sebum will help to naturally preserve your skin while giving it some extra thickness. This will help you to retain a brighter and more youthful complexion for longer. Plus, with the tips and products above, excess oil is something that you won’t have to deal with for much longer. Keep our advice in mind and you’ll soon be in full control over your oily skin!

8 Key Skincare Trends That Will Be Huge This Fall

woman smiling

Now that we’re well into the summer, it’s time to start thinking ahead to the fall. This transitional month is crucial when it comes to skincare – it’s the ideal opportunity to repair the appearance of summertime damage while also bolstering your complexion to see it through the upcoming cold season.

If you need some inspiration to help you to enhance your skincare routine, keep reading as OROGOLD talks through eight key skincare trends that will significantly shape the beauty industry this autumn.

1) Skincare On-the-Go

Pure Smoothing Eye Jelly Masks-Lifestyle

Let’s start with one of the quirkier skincare trends for this fall; on-the-go skincare. No, we’re not talking about travel-sized skincare products – instead, this trend is all about wearing skincare/beauty products as fashion accessories!

From pimple patches and spot stickers to under-eye masks, people are no longer relegating these products to evenings spent hidden away at home. Instead, they’re now proudly wearing them while out and about running daily errands, loving how these products provide portable pampering. Sure, it may take a fair bit of confidence to pull this trend off, but it makes using these products so much more convenient if your hectic daily schedule sees you short on time.

Brave enough to give this one a try for yourself? OROGOLD’s Pure Soothing Eye Jelly Masks Limited Edition is the perfect way to do so. Designed to fit snugly onto the skin underneath the eyes, these mask patches are packed with ingredients that quickly reduce the appearance of dark circles, puffiness, and crow’s feet.

2) Retinol Alternatives

Skin Balancing Mask Stick

You’ve probably heard of retinol before – it’s one of the most popular skincare ingredients around. It’s a form of vitamin A that can help with the appearance of everything from wrinkles and loose skin to dullness and dark spots.

So, if retinol is so great, why are retinol alternatives trending? Because as effective as retinol may be, it’s also notorious for triggering reactions in certain skin types. Those with dry or sensitive skin often struggle with this ingredient. Plus, even for other skin types, retinol can lead to skin purging. This temporarily increases the frequency and severity of acne breakouts while your skin is learning to tolerate the ingredient.

Fortunately, those side effects are non-existent with many of the retinol alternatives available. Ingredients like azelaic acid and bakuchiol provide comparable results but without any of the downsides. In fact, one study found that bakuchiol was just as effective as retinol at reducing the appearance of fine lines.

If you’d like to add bakuchiol to your skincare routine, check out the OROGOLD 24K Skin Balancing Mask Stick. It’s a face mask in stick form, allowing you to target its application if needed. In addition to bakuchiol, it contains an antioxidant-rich blend of plant oils, including grape seed, meadowfoam seed, papaya seed, and black raspberry seed.

3) Advanced SPF

24K Skin Tone SPF30

2024 has seen people start to pay more attention to SPF. This is partly down to how many skincare brands have been reinforcing the importance of sun protection, and rightly so. With the sun responsible for up to 80% of the wrinkles and dark spots that appear on your face, as well as many skin cancers, it’s about time that people start focusing on upping their SPF game.

The increasing popularity of SPF means that many skincare brands are now creating advanced SPF formulations. Gone are the days of thick and heavy sunscreens that leave your skin looking white and ghostly. Well, those products are still around but you now also have plenty of lightweight and sheer alternatives, just like the OROGOLD 24K Skin Tone SPF 30.

This formula is a great example of the advanced SPF trend. It provides SPF 30 while also boasting all of the properties offered by a high-quality face moisturizer. It’s filled with vitamins, antioxidants, and hydrating ingredients, giving the skin a glow while also shielding it from sun damage.

4) Pearl Skin

24K Mousse Cleanser

Glass skin was a K-beauty trend that dominated the global beauty world for a couple of years. However, 2024 sees it pushed aside for the new type of sought-after complexion; pearl skin.

As you can guess from the name, pearl skin is about giving the skin an effortless pearlescent sheen. Unlike glass skin, which is when the skin looks wet and glossy, pearl skin has a glow that’s more matte. It still glistens but in a more subtle and ethereal way.

How do you achieve pearl skin? It partly involves the clever use of makeup. However, before this, you need to first ensure that you have a bright and hydrating base to work from. This involves gently cleansing your skin – a cleanser like the OROGOLD 24K Mousse Cleanser would be ideal for the pearl skin look. Then, apply a hydrating toner, like the 24K Purifying Toner. A hydrating serum, such as the 24K Rejuvenating Skin Serum, is next, topped off with a hydrating moisturizer.

5) Hydrating With Algae

24K Kelp Caviar Micro-Bead Serum

Each year, at least one of the new skincare trends will hone in on a particular hydrating ingredient. Hyaluronic acid had its moment a couple of years ago, followed by sodium hyaluronate. This year, algae is the hydrating ingredient of choice.

Is this a good thing? Most definitely. For starters, just like hyaluronic acid, algae has humectant properties. These allow it to bind moisture to the skin. However, being a nutrient-dense aquatic plant means that algae also offers several other fantastic benefits to the skin. It helps to counter the feeling of inflammation, soften the look of wrinkles, lighten the visibility of dark spots, and more.

Although algae may be a newly trending ingredient, it’s one that OROGOLD has loved for a while. As a result, you’ll find it in several of our products, with the 24K Kelp Caviar Micro-Bead Serum being particularly popular. This silky solution combines algae extract with aloe vera leaf extract, which is also a humectant. Meanwhile, antioxidants from green tea, calendula, chamomile, and vitamin E provide even more power.

6) Overnight Masking

24K ROSE GOLD HYDRO MASK

As you can tell from the first of our skincare trends (wearing face masks and pimple patches while doing daily errands), people are short on time these days. Although they’re still paying plenty of attention to their skin, they’re looking for ways in which they can do so as quickly and conveniently as possible.

This desire led to overnight masking becoming one of 2024’s biggest skincare trends. It involves applying a face mask before you go to bed. This then saves you from having to sit around for 10-15 minutes waiting for your face mask to work its magic. Instead, with an overnight mask, it will get to work while you sleep.

If you’re thinking that overnight masks sound messy, you’d be wrong. These no-rinse formulas are developed in a special way that allows them to sink into the skin, just like a moisturizer would. You won’t need to worry about the mask rubbing off onto your pillowcase or clogging your pores and triggering acne breakouts.

Intrigued? The OROGOLD 24K Rose Gold Hydro Mask would be a good place to start. This overnight mask is exceptionally hydrating and is brimming with antioxidants. It’ll have you waking up to skin that looks fresher, smoother, and brighter.

7) LED Light Therapy

Eye-Wand-Spotlight

Skincare tech has been gaining in popularity for a while. At-home devices seem to be constantly hogging the limelight when it comes to new skincare trends each year, and 2024 is no different.

However, one type of skincare tech has been outshining the others; LED light therapy. It has been a treatment of choice for many for a while but the fact that at-home LED light therapy devices are now so easily accessible has increased the reach of this technology.

The Photonix-2 Jade Eye Wand is one such device. This tool truly harnesses the huge range of benefits that LED light therapy can provide to the complexion. Depending on the mode you choose, you’ll be able to use this device to target the appearance of everything from crow’s feet and sagging skin to dark circles and puffy eye bags. Its multi-functionality is exactly why LED light therapy has become so popular!

8) Soothing Rather Than Stimulating

24k-deep-peeling

In recent years, many of the skincare trends have been all about stimulating the skin to encourage it to change in some way – ideally, as quickly as possible. However, 2024 turns things around. Instead, the focus is now on soothing and calming the complexion. Rather than stimulating it, people are now looking for ways to keep their skin barrier feeling as strong and resilient as possible. This then allows the skin to take care of itself in other ways, resulting in less input needed from you.

How do you keep your skin barrier feeling fortified? It all comes down to the products and ingredients you use. To start with, you’ll need a gentle cleanser and exfoliator. An exfoliator that uses a mild chemical exfoliant, like the 24K Multi-Vitamin Deep Peeling + Mandelic Acid would be a far better choice than a harsh scrub.

Certain ingredients can also be game-changers when it comes to improving how healthy and thick your skin barrier feels. Ceramides are one that you most definitely need in your skincare routine, with the 24K Termica Activation Serum being a great way to give this ingredient to your skin.

A moisturizer that contains hydrating and complexion-calming ingredients is also essential. Moisturizers form their own barrier over your skin’s natural barrier, leaving the deeper layers of your skin feeling doubly protected. The OROGOLD 24K Rose Gold Advanced Cream does this beautifully!

Deciding Which Skincare Trends to Try

When it comes down to it, you shouldn’t try a new product, ingredient, or technique solely because it’s a trend. Instead, make sure that your skin actually needs it. If it does, then go ahead and embrace that trend wholeheartedly, particularly if it happens to be one of the safe and science-backed trends featured above.

7 Essential Facts About Using AHAs on Your Skin

Asian woman

Thinking about adding AHAs to your skincare routine? Otherwise known as alpha-hydroxy acids, AHAs offer up a number of skin benefits…so long as you use them correctly.

If you’re new to the world of hydroxy acids and want to know more, read on as OROGOLD shares seven essential facts about using AHAs on your skin.

1) AHAs Primarily Exfoliate the Skin

The main reason people use AHAs is to exfoliate their skin. While there are plenty of other exfoliating ingredients available, AHAs are considered to be among the gentlest.

AHAs work by dissolving the glue-like bonds that keep dead skin cells attached to the skin’s surface. This allows those cells to then fall away, revealing the fresher and younger cells beneath.

2) AHAs Can Benefit the Skin in Other Ways Too

Although AHAs are mainly used for exfoliation, they offer up some other significant benefits too:

Reducing the Appearance of Fine Lines and Wrinkles

AHAs are great for helping the skin look younger and firmer. With each layer of dead skin cells that they remove, the layer of cells beneath, which will look and feel smoother and tighter, will be allowed to show through. This immediately gives the skin a plumper and more youthful finish.

Lightening the Look of Hyperpigmentation

Usually caused by sun damage, dark spots on the skin won’t fade overnight. Leave them be and their appearance will slowly lighten over the course of several months. However, add AHAs to your skincare routine and you’ll be able to speed this up. The more you regularly exfoliate your skin, the brighter and more even in color it will look.

Reducing the Appearance of Acne

There are a few factors that contribute to acne breakouts, with clogged pores being one of the main ones. When your pores end up blocked with dead skin cells, bacteria soon mix into those clogs, resulting in inflammation and breakouts.

Exfoliating with AHAs helps with this in two ways. Firstly, it removes any dead skin cells that are lingering on your skin’s surface. This means that there won’t be as many dead skin cells around to clog your pores in the first place. AHAs also clear away dead skin cells from pore openings, helping to remove blockages that have already formed.

Increasing Product Absorption

Ideally, when you apply a skincare product to your skin, it should quickly penetrate through so that it can start working ASAP. However, if your skin is laden with dead skin cells, your products will struggle to do this. Instead, all of that dead skin will form a barrier that blocks your products from reaching your living skin cells. Only a small percentage of your products will manage to seep through, meaning that you won’t see the full spectrum of benefits that your products should be offering.

Exfoliating with AHAs removes all of those obstacles. This will allow your skincare products to dive straight into your skin, making your entire skincare routine all the more effective.

3) There Are Multiple AHAs to Choose From

24K MULTI-VITAMIN DEEP PEELING + MANDELIC ACID

Where people often stumble when using AHAs for the first time is in deciding which acid to use. There are a few different AHAs out there to choose from, with each one varying in its potency level. Here are three of the most popular:

  • Glycolic acid – derived from sugar cane, this is the AHA with the smallest molecular size. As a result, it works on a deeper level of the complexion than other AHAs. In some ways, this is good but it also means that there’s more chance of experiencing irritation from the ingredient.
  • Lactic acid – usually derived from fermented foods, lactic acid is known for being gentler than glycolic acid due to its larger molecular size. It doesn’t penetrate quite as deeply and also has hydrating properties.
  • Mandelic acid – derived from almonds, this AHA is known for being extremely gentle. It works near the surface of the skin, meaning that reactions and irritations are very unlikely.

So, how do you know which AHA to choose?

If you’re using AHAs for the first time, it’s always best to go with a gentle acid. With that said, many formulas are now combining multiple exfoliants to stagger penetration. This is exactly what the OROGOLD 24K Deep Peeling + Mandelic Acid does. It blends mandelic acid with bamboo powder, which is a physical exfoliant. The bamboo powder works to prep the skin, leaving it feeling more permeable, after which the mandelic acid can then work its magic.

4) BHAs Can Be Just as Effective as AHAs

If you’re considering AHAs and your skin type is oily, then it would also be worth familiarizing yourself with BHAs. The main difference between the two is that AHAs are water-soluble whereas beta-hydroxy acids are oil-soluble. This means that if you have oily skin, BHAs will be more effective at penetrating the excess oil on your skin, enabling it to reach a deeper level of your complexion than AHAs can.

Again, just like with AHAs, there are a few different BHAs out there. However, salicylic acid is the most popular. Some products contain both an AHA and salicylic acid, but such formulas aren’t usually recommended for beginners. As you’re about to find out, acids need to be introduced to the skin slowly and carefully…

5) AHAs Need to Be Introduced to Your Skin Gradually

Although AHAs are generally considered to be gentler on the skin than physical exfoliants, such as scrubs, this is largely due to how they aren’t abrasive. This means that, unlike scrubs, they don’t run the risk of causing micro-tears in the skin.

However, the acids themselves will still be new to your skin. Go overboard with your use of AHAs at the start and your skin will only react negatively. Instead, it needs some time to grow accustomed to your acid of choice, meaning that a gradual introduction is key.

This means starting off with a mild and low-concentration AHA product, just like the OROGOLD 24K Deep Peeling + Mandelic Acid. Begin by using it just once a week for a few weeks. Once you’re confident that your skin is happily tolerating the AHA product, you can increase your usage if required.

How often should you be using AHAs? This all depends on your skin type. If you have dry or sensitive skin, once a week will likely be sufficient. However, if your skin type is oily, you may need to exfoliate with an AHA two or three times a week.

6) The Incorrect Usage of AHAs Can Lead to Over-Exfoliation

24K Deep Moisturizer

What happens if you use AHAs too often? Over-exfoliation, which is not fun to deal with! This skin problem arises when the skin has been exfoliated too much. This happens not only when you exfoliate too often but also if you use an exfoliant that’s too harsh or powerful for your skin. This causes damage to the skin’s natural protective barrier, which can lead to a whole host of skin problems.

The tricky part is that the symptoms of over-exfoliation are extremely varied. This means that it can sometimes take a while to figure out that exfoliation is the root cause of your new skin problems. However, if you’ve recently added AHAs to your skincare routine and have noticed some of the following symptoms, over-exfoliation could be to blame:

  • Increased sensitivities. The skin will often sting or burn in response to products that it was previously fine with.
  • Redness and inflammation.
  • Dryness and dehydration. The skin might even peel and flake.
  • Increased oil production and acne breakouts.
  • An uncomfortably tight feeling in the skin.
  • A waxy appearance to the skin’s surface.

What happens if you’ve accidentally over-exfoliated? You’ll need to immediately stop exfoliating and give your skin some time to heal. This can take weeks – sometimes even months – so be patient. In the meantime, cut back on your skincare routine and only use products that soothe and calm your complexion, like the OROGOLD 24K Deep Moisturizer. Then, once your skin feels back to normal, introduce AHAs back into your routine. However, do so very gradually and don’t make the same mistakes that you did before!

7) AHAs Can Increase UV Sensitivity

24K Skin Tone SPF30

You’re probably already aware of just how bad the sun can be for your skin. Not only do those UV rays cause up to 80% of the wrinkles and dark spots that develop on the skin over time, but they also lead to dehydration, acne breakouts, and skin cancer.

To save your skin from all of this, you need to keep it protected from the sun. Unfortunately, any type of exfoliation, including exfoliating with AHAs, will leave your skin temporarily more vulnerable to sun damage. This is down to how it removes the outer layer of dead skin cells on your skin, which would have served as an additional barrier between your skin and the sun.

This is why many choose to exfoliate in the evenings, rather than in the mornings. This way, your skin has all night to recover. You’ll still need to be careful about sun protection the next day, as you should every day of the year, but your skin won’t be more vulnerable than usual.

If you prefer to exfoliate in the mornings, make sure that you’re diligent about sun protection. An SPF 30 sunscreen, like the OROGOLD 24K Skin Tone SPF 30, is essential. It would also be worth applying a vitamin C serum, like the 24K Vitamin C Booster Facial Serum, underneath your sunscreen. Studies have found that applying vitamin C in conjunction with a sunscreen keeps the skin feeling even better protected against UV damage.

Understanding AHAs

AHAs can be transformational for the complexion – in both good ways and bad. It goes without saying that you’ll want to see nothing but benefits from your use of AHAs, so make sure that you keep all of the above facts in mind when giving acids a try for the first time. Pick the right product and introduce it gradually into your skincare routine so that your skin can reap the rewards of these ingredients without any of the downsides.

Why OROGOLD is the New Favorite Skincare Among Gen-Z

Gen-z girl

While OROGOLD products appeal to all generations, Gen Z, meaning those born between the mid-1990s and the early 2010s, have been increasingly flocking to these formulas, with many proudly declaring OROGOLD to be their new favorite skincare brand.

What is it about OROGOLD that has been attracting so many Gen-Zers? Let’s find out!

The Visual Impact of OROGOLD Products

24K DEEP TISSUE REJUVENATION MASK & COLLAGEN EYE RENEWAL MASK

As you probably know, Gen-Z is a huge fan of social media. This generation grew up in a digital world, with the internet and social media likely having played a big role in their upbringing.

Enter the selfie era, with Gen-Zers being at the forefront of this. Selfies became a form of self-expression, enabling people to showcase their personality and sense of individuality in a self-affirming way. Selfies were soon an aspect of every part of life, including beauty rituals.

As a result, Gen-Z started opting for beauty products that provided visual impact. Their favorite skincare brands created products that boasted an attention-grabbing visual aesthetic, which saw a number of OROGOLD products rise in popularity.

Take the OROGOLD 24K Deep Tissue Rejuvenation Mask & Collagen Eye Renewal Mask as an example. With its shimmery gold color, it’s one that will add richness and luxury to any selfie! Better yet, the ingredients within this mask are ideal for hydrating the skin. Between hyaluronic acid, sea algae extracts, and collagen, it provides an instant glow that Gen-Z absolutely loves!

The OROGOLD 24K Kelp Caviar Transforming Mask is also a favorite skincare product for many Gen-Zers. It’s a clay mask, making it ideal for tackling the appearance of acne breakouts, which many in this generation are currently battling. However, what gives this mask its social media appeal is how it starts off as a beige color and then turns yellow-gold once it’s ready to be removed. It makes skincare fun and exciting, which Gen-Z appreciates!

Consumers Become the Experts

Golden Dew Serum In Cream

Of course, as aesthetically gorgeous as OROGOLD skincare products may be, Gen-Z isn’t one to be swayed by appearances. Research shows that nearly half of Gen-Z consumers extensively research beauty products before making a purchase.

What are they looking for? Quality. Gen-Z has seen beauty consumers turn into experts themselves. With skinfluencers all over social media teaching this generation all about skincare, they tend to regard themselves as skintellectuals. They make educated choices when it comes to skincare. They pick products that contain premium ingredients rather than being swayed by poor-quality products with clever marketing.

This, once again, is why OROGOLD has become a favorite skincare brand among this generation. Quality is something that OROGOLD strives for in each and every product. OROGOLD formulas contain some of the most advanced and cutting-edge ingredients available in the industry, which Gen-Z recognizes.

The OROGOLD 24K Golden Dew Serum-in-Cream is particularly popular among this generation. It contains several ingredients that started off as trendy but are now mainstays in the Gen-Z skincare routine, such as niacinamide and squalane. Gen-Z also favors products that are packed with skin-loving antioxidants, which this product boasts plenty of.

The 24K Multi-Vitamin Deep Peeling + Mandelic Acid is another OROGOLD product that many Gen-Zers have benefited from. Many in this generation are still relatively new to the world of exfoliation, and experimenting with potent acids can seem daunting. This exfoliator makes use of bamboo powder as a physical exfoliant, which Gen-Zers are familiar with. However, it also incorporates mandelic acid. It’s the gentlest of alpha-hydroxy acids, making it a great way to introduce AHAs into a skincare routine without having to worry about damaging the skin.

Sun Protection Made Easy

24K Skin Tone SPF30

Although social media is helping Gen-Z to become the skintellectuals that they are, there’s no getting away from the fact that social media has some downsides too. After all, not every skinfluencer out there actually knows what they’re talking about. This has made Gen-Z very susceptible to believing skincare misinformation, particularly when it comes to sunscreen. They’re passionate and knowledgeable about other aspects of skincare but, for some reason, fall short on SPF.

For example, one poll found that around one-quarter of Gen-Zers believe that staying hydrated will prevent sunburns. With no one fact-checking this information and realizing that there’s actually no evidence whatsoever to support this, many Gen-Zers are forgoing SPF products in favor of hydrating formulas, which do nothing to protect the skin from UV damage.

Many of the Gen-Zers who do wear sunscreen often find it to be an inconvenience. This makes them far less likely to use their SPF products correctly, with regular reapplications during the day being almost non-existent. Sure, they may recognize that wearing sunscreen now will help to prevent future damage but the way in which many formulas leave the skin looking white or feeling greasy often overrules.

With that said, the concept of sun protection has slowly been changing as Gen-Zers have been discovering OROGOLD. The 24K Skin Tone SPF 30 is the product that has been garnering all of the attention. This cream feels and looks more like a moisturizer than a sunscreen, meaning that it quickly disappears into the skin once applied. Packed with antioxidants, which Gen-Z loves, the fact that this exquisite cream also provides sun protection makes it a hit among this generation.

Gender-Neutral Skincare

24K Nano Night Recovery

Gen-Z is the generation that has really challenged mainstream beauty norms. They’ve successfully redefined beauty standards, placing high expectations on brands to be diverse and inclusive.

As a result, almost 40% of Gen-Z beauty consumers prefer brands that produce gender-neutral products. Their favorite skincare brands craft formulas that can be used on both male and female skin – something else that OROGOLD proudly does.

Rather than focusing on gender, our products are geared toward certain skin types/skin concerns. The 24K Nano Night Recovery, for example, is ideal for anyone with skin that looks dull and lackluster. No matter your gender, it will leave your complexion brighter and perkier. Apply it to your skin at night and you’ll wake up to a new and improved complexion.

The 24K Rejuvenating Skin Serum is another great example of gender-neutral skincare. This formula is all about giving the skin a boost of vitamins – something that every gender of skin needs! It’s packed with two forms of vitamin C, along with vitamins A and E. It also contains hemp seed oil for hydration, along with essential fatty acids. With hemp seed oil being a favorite skincare ingredient among many Gen-Zers, this serum checks yet another box!

The Influence of K-Beauty

24K Deep Facial Brush & 24K Sensitive Skin Cleanser

K-beauty has been world-famous for a while, but Gen-Z has really embraced it. With Korea being at the forefront of the skincare industry, constantly pushing boundaries, Gen-Z is a fan. Not only do K-beauty brands have instant appeal to many of this generation, but they also lean toward Western brands that have been inspired by K-beauty ideals. It helps that many skinfuencers are also K-beauty-crazy, giving the concept an almost cult-like status.

How does this relate to OROGOLD? Although not a K-beauty brand, you’ll find the same innovative nature in OROGOLD skincare products. Many of the ingredients that we use are K-beauty favorites while the way in which we get creative with our formulas has much in common with K-beauty brands. We love being inspired by skincare concepts and techniques from all over the world!

The OROGOLD 24K Rose Gold Age Glow Duo is a great example of this. Featuring niacinamide, sodium hyaluronate, resveratrol, and tropical fruit and flower extracts, this is a product that K-beauty fans would immediately approve of. Its two-part application method, consisting of a powder and a serum, earns points too. It allows the ingredients to retain their potency in a way that they wouldn’t be able to do had they been pre-combined. This is what gives this product its immense power.

Cleansing brushes also became popular thanks to K-beauty. The OROGOLD version is the 24K Deep Facial Brush Set. It provides an easy way to both thoroughly cleanse and exfoliate the skin. It elevates a skincare routine in a way that very much appeals to Gen-Z.

Mirroring Morals

Gen-Z has strong social beliefs. They want to see diversity, inclusivity, and sustainability from their favorite skincare brands. Once again, OROGOLD meets the mark.

We’ve already explained how our gender-neutral formulas embrace diversity and inclusivity. We also make sure that our skincare products are suitable for people of every color. As an example, many of the products out there designed to lighten the look of dark spots or dark circles contain ingredients that aren’t safe to be used on darker skin tones. With our formulas, on the other hand, you won’t need to worry about this.

In terms of sustainability, OROGOLD packaging is fully recyclable. The beauty industry produces so much packaging waste each year, and Gen-Z wants no part in that. With OROGOLD, they can shop guilt-free.

This guilt-free feeling is enhanced even further with the knowledge that OROGOLD products aren’t tested on animals. It’s something else that Gen-Z feels very strongly about, and rightly so. Thanks to this generation, animal testing is being increasingly phased out. This is something that OROGOLD has also been passionate about right from the get-go.

OROGOLD: A Favorite Skincare Brand Across the Generations

It’s easy to see why OROGOLD is a favorite skincare brand among many Gen-Zers. This is a generation that relates to the quality, convenience, innovation, and inclusivity that are key aspects of the OROGOLD brand. The best part is that OROGOLD produces products that every generation would benefit from. This means that once a Gen-Zer becomes an OROGOLD fan, they’ll be able to keep using OROGOLD products throughout their life.

How to Combat Seasonal Dry Skin Effectively

woman dry skin

Struggling with dry skin?

As frustrating as it may be to deal with the roughness, scaliness, and flaking that often accompanies the dryness, the good news is that there’s plenty that you can do about this. Read on as OROGOLD shares some top tips for effectively combating the appearance of dry skin.

Use a Rich and Hydrating Moisturizer

24K ULTRA DAY MOISTURIZER

One of the best ways to immediately smooth and soften the look of dryness is by moisturizing your skin. The reason your skin is dry is that it lacks sebum – the natural oil that coats the skin’s surface. Without enough sebum, the skin struggles to keep itself lubricated, hence the dryness.

A moisturizer helps to make up for this by forming its own conditioning layer over the surface of the skin. The richer and more hydrating your moisturizer it is, the better it will do the job.

Ideally, you should have two separate moisturizers; one for the day and one for the night. For daytime use, the 24K Ultra Day Moisturizer from OROGOLD would be a great choice. Between hemp seed oil, avocado oil, seaweed extract, and sodium hyaluronate, it will both hydrate and condition your skin.

For the evenings, pick a thicker formula, like the OROGOLD 24K Rose Gold Advanced Cream. Again, this moisturizer is brimming with plant oils and hydrating compounds. It’s also packed with antioxidants that will have you waking up to a brighter and rejuvenated complexion.

Invest in a Couple of Hydrating Serums

Termica-Serum

Another downside to the lack of sebum that dry skin has is dehydration. Conditioning the skin’s surface is just one role that sebum plays. Its other is to trap moisture in the skin. The layer of sebum on the skin’s surface acts as a barrier that prevents moisture from evaporating away. Without enough sebum in place, moisture will evaporate at a much faster rate.

A rich moisturizer will help to slow this down but, at the same time, you should also be giving your skin some extra hydration. Serums tend to be the best way to do this. Thanks to how lightweight they are, they can penetrate into the deeper layers of your complexion, bringing those thirsty layers some much-needed moisture.

To make sure that the serums you’re using are hydrating, look for humectants on the ingredients list. These are compounds that bind moisture to the skin, providing immediate hydration. Some of the best humectants around are sodium hyaluronate, glycerin, seaweed extract, and collagen, all of which you’ll find in the OROGOLD 24K Termica Activation Serum. Our 24K Kelp Caviar Micro-Bead Serum, which contains a blend of glycerin, aloe vera, and kelp extract, is also loved for its hydrating capabilities.

Avoid Over-Cleansing or Over-Exfoliating Your Skin

24K Mousse Cleanser

If your skin is dry and lacking sebum, then this means that your skin barrier won’t be functioning in the way that it should. Not only can this make your dry skin worse over time, but it can also lead to a number of other skin problems.

So, it goes without saying that you should be trying to keep your barrier as intact and fortified as possible. Sadly, many don’t realize that when they cleanse and exfoliate their skin, they’re actually causing even more barrier damage.

Does this mean that you should stop cleansing and exfoliating? Definitely not. Both are vital for a healthy complexion. However, be careful with how you go about doing so…

When it comes to cleansing, use a gentle, sulfate-free cleanser. Sulfates will only strip away your skin barrier even further. A formula like the OROGOLD 24K Mousse Cleanser would be ideal! It moisturizes while it cleanses, making it perfect for dry skin.

Meanwhile, in terms of exfoliating, go with a product that makes use of gentle exfoliants, such as the OROGOLD 24K Multi-Vitamin Deep Peeling + Mandelic Acid. Mandelic acid is one of the gentlest exfoliating acids out there, making it suitable for dry and sensitive skin. Use it once or twice a week and no more, as this would only lead to symptoms of over-exfoliation.

Add a Hydrating Toner to Your Skincare Routine

24K Purifying Toner

Another way to give your dry skin some extra moisture is with a hydrating toner. The right formula can offer a few other benefits too. A good toner will rebalance the pH level on your skin’s surface to keep it feeling healthy while also prepping your skin for the remainder of your skincare routine. With a toner, your skin will feel more receptive to the other products that you apply, enhancing their efficacy.

So, what qualifies as a ‘good’ toner?

One of the key features to look out for is a lack of alcohol. Many toners contain alcohol, which makes them extremely drying. These wouldn’t be suitable for dry skin. Others, like the OROGOLD 24K Purifying Toner, are alcohol-free, making them a much better choice. This formula is also jam-packed with ingredients that will hydrate and soothe your complexion, including aloe vera leaf juice, cucumber fruit extract, and chamomile extract.

Don’t Skip the Sunscreen

24K Skin Tone SPF30

We’ve already talked about how important it is to preserve your skin’s natural protective barrier. This means keeping it safe from all of the things out there that cause it damage, one of which is the sun. Not only will the sun interfere with skin barrier function, but it will also further dehydrate your skin. This will leave it looking even drier, rougher, and flakier.

With that said, many people with dry skin find that regular sunscreens cause irritation. This is understandable since many of those products contain drying ingredients. Ideally, you want a formula that’s going to protect your skin from the sun while moisturizing it at the same time.

This is why we created the OROGOLD 24K Skin Tone SPF 30. It looks and feels just like an exquisite moisturizer, yet it also contains UV-blocking agents that will protect your skin from the damage that UV rays can cause. While that may be the case, make sure that you keep topping up your SPF throughout the day. One application in the morning isn’t going to keep you protected until the sun goes down. If you really want to combat the look of dry skin, you’ll need to reapply your SPF every couple of hours.

Be Careful With Potent Actives

24K Vitamin C Booster Serum

With dry skin suffering from an impaired skin barrier, it can sometimes react negatively to potent active ingredients. All of those gaps in your skin barrier end up allowing more of those ingredients to filter into your skin. This may sound beneficial but, like with everything, too much of a good thing can be bad! Rather than helping your skin, all of that extra potency will only cause irritation and exacerbate your dryness.

This doesn’t mean that you need to stay away from all powerful ingredients. Instead, look for gentle derivatives of the ingredients you want to use. Vitamin A, for example, comes in many forms. Retinol is too potent for some people with dry skin, but retinyl palmitate is milder and doesn’t cause any problems. The same applies to vitamin C. Ascorbic acid may be too much for your skin but tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate provides the same benefits without the irritation.

If your skincare routine currently consists of potent actives that have been causing your skin to react, consider swapping those products for the OROGOLD 24K Vitamin C Booster Facial Serum. With gentle forms of vitamins A, C, and E, along with wheat germ oil to hydrate the skin, it provides an array of nutrients while also ensuring that your dry skin feels soft, smooth, and happy.

Use an Overnight Face Mask Once a Week

24K ROSE GOLD HYDRO MASK

Face masks are a great way to give your skin some extra TLC. Of course, when dealing with dry skin, you need to choose the right face mask. Go with a heavy clay mask and you could end up pulling even more moisture out of your skin.

Instead, your face mask should do the opposite – give your skin an additional dose of moisture. Hydrating overnight masks are great for doing this. Since they’re left on the skin for much longer than a regular face mask, all of those hydrating ingredients will have more time to work their way into your skin’s layers. You’ll wake up with skin that looks beautifully soft and bright!

This is why the OROGOLD 24K Rose Gold Hydro Mask is such a hit among those with dry skin. With sodium hyaluronate, seaweed extract, and glycerin, it will quickly quench your skin. Meanwhile, the numerous antioxidants in this formula will leave your skin feeling healthier on a cellular level while countering the appearance of free radical damage.

Get 8 Hours of Beauty Sleep Each Night

Did you know that a lack of quality sleep could be making your dry skin even drier?

If you end up missing out on some of your beauty sleep each night, this can cause your skin’s pH level to drop. This then affects sebum production. It usually slows it down even more, which is the last thing that dry skin needs!

If you’re hoping to combat the appearance of dry skin, quality sleep is a must. You should be getting around 7-8 hours of it each night. During this time, your skin cells will work hard to repair and regenerate, ensuring that everything is functioning as it should.

If quality sleep is something that you struggle with, implement a few strategies to encourage yourself to drift off quickly each night. For example, cut back on caffeine and alcohol, put away any electronic devices a couple of hours before bedtime, and set your bedroom up to be a comfortable haven, complete with dim lighting, cool temperatures, and luxurious bed linen.

Combatting the Feeling of Dry Skin With OROGOLD

Dry skin can be tricky to deal with, especially if your skincare routine or lifestyle habits are unintentionally making that dryness even worse. If you’ve been dealing with dry skin for a while and haven’t seen an improvement, it could be time to change your ways. Start by implementing the tips that we’ve shared above and you should soon start to notice that your dryness is no longer such a big problem!
