Women Sitting in Cross-Legged Yoga Pose

One of the most common New Year’s resolutions out there is to be healthier, but when it actually comes time to putting this into action, many are confused as to exactly where to begin. From adjusting your diet to motivating yourself to get active, here are a few starting points that you can use to create a healthier you for 2017.

Diet and Nutrition

When it comes to healthy living, your diet is the first aspect of your life that you need to tackle, as this will have a huge impact on everything else. No matter what your diet currently consists of, it is likely that it can be improved in some way, so take a look at everything that you eat and think about how you could begin to make changes. Plenty of fruits and vegetables are absolutely essential, but if you find it difficult incorporating enough of these into each meal, turn them into snacks instead, whether it be dried berries or carrot sticks with a healthy dip. While certain fats, such as the ones that you will find in greasy, processed foods, should be avoided as much as possible, others are extremely good for you, such as the fats that you find in nuts and oily fish, so, when it comes to your diet, try to swap the “bad” for the “good” as much as possible. Do this slowly, so as not to overwhelm you, and also so that healthy eating can become a habit rather than a chore.

Physical Activity

Regular physical activity is another vital part of keeping healthy, and brings with it so many different benefits. The main issue that many have with this is finding the motivation to actually go and work out, especially when this precious free time could easily be spent doing something more enjoyable. The key here is to make physical activity just as enjoyable as all of your other interests, by finding an exercise that you can really involve yourself in. If the gym and standard sports do not really appeal to you, look a bit further afield, maybe signing up for orienteering classes or hill walking sessions. Making a group pact with friends to try a new physical activity each week can also make this much more fun, as can involving your pet, whether this is biking with your dog or taking it to agility classes that will also have you running around.

Learn How to De-Stress and Relax

While stress is usually a common part of everyday life, chronic stress can have a seriously adverse effect on your mental well-being, as well as your physical health. Certain relaxation techniques, such as yoga and meditation, are extremely beneficial, but if you have tried these before and not really taken to them, see what else is out there when it comes to making you feel relaxed. Whether this is an at-home spa session or simply taking some time out to listen to some music or make some art, learning how to de-stress and relax will really improve your health.

While there are many different aspects that need to come together in order to create a healthier you, these three are the most important. Once you have your diet, exercise and stress levels under control, you will already be well on your way to living a healthy lifestyle.

New Year’s resolutions can often be difficult to keep, with many setting their expectations far too high. Rather than failing to keep your resolutions even until the end of January, set yourself a few resolutions that are actually doable.

Eat Healthier

One of the most common New Year’s resolutions out there is to eat healthier, but this is something that you need to fully commit to. In order to help avoid unhealthy temptations, try ordering a weekly supply of groceries online, as this will give you a visual image of what your weekly diet will look like. You should also keep a food diary, as this will help you to keep track of the improvements that you have been making, as well as encourage you to try new ingredients and cooking techniques.

Exercise More

Many people resolve to spend more time at the gym, but resolving to exercise more in general means that you are much more likely to stick to this. While the gym may have everything you think you need, the anticipation of a grueling workout can be off-putting at the end of a long day, resulting in you skipping exercise altogether. There is no denying the benefits of a session at the gym, but include other forms of exercise in your resolution too, from walking the dog to cycling to playing different sports to learning a martial art.

Explore a New Place

Resolving to travel more is common, but this can often be unrealistic for many when it actually comes time to doing so. Rather than resolving to visit exotic, far-flung destinations, make one of your resolutions to simply explore a new place, without stipulating where this should be. This means that you have the option of exploring somewhere local to you if you desire, but still gives you the leeway to travel across the world.

Learn Something New

Learning something new gives the brain an incredible mental workout, boosting the parts of it that are linked with memory, decision making and learning. Whether you take a college class, sign up for an online language course, or simply set yourself a list of challenging books to read, learning something new is easy, and brings with it so many different benefits. Once you start to notice the improvements within yourself, you will have no problems at all sticking to this resolution.

Spend More Time Outdoors

Spending time outdoors is so good for your health, but, in order to stick to this resolution, you need to set yourself some mini goals. Whether this may be a list of outdoor destinations that you visit every weekend, or joining forces with friends so that you can encourage each other to keep this resolution, this is a resolution that will quickly become a much-loved habit.

Studies have shown that only one in ten people actually stick to their New Year’s resolutions, so, if you want to make sure that you are one of these people, set yourself some resolutions that are actually doable. From learning something new to eating healthier, these resolutions are not only easy to stick to, but will also bring so many benefits to your life.

Now that 2017 is almost upon us, it is time to begin thinking of some New Year’s resolutions. Whether you have already started a list, or are stuck for ideas, these are some beauty resolutions that everybody should stick to.

Cleanse Every Night

Resolving to remove all makeup and cleanse the skin each and every night without fail is something that many can relate to, but this is a resolution that often ends up neglected at several points throughout the year. However, by failing to cleanse your face, you are leaving your skin cells vulnerable to so much damage, so, to make sure that you really stick to this resolution, keep a pack of cleansing wipes by your bed for those nights when you forget.

Commit to a Regular Skin Care Routine

While you may have invested in the highest quality beauty products out there, many of these will only bring about results when used on a regular basis, instead of just sporadically when you tend to remember. Resolving to commit to a regular daily skin care routine is one of the best resolutions that you can make for your skin, and it will not be long before you begin to notice the improvements.

Pay More Attention to Makeup Brushes

You probably already know that it is recommended to wash your makeup brushes on a regular basis, but if you often forget to do so, then this is another resolution that you can add to your list. Dirty makeup brushes not only spread bacteria, but will also prevent you from achieving a flawless makeup finish, so make sure to clean those brushes once a week with a brush cleaner. You could also invest in a wider range of makeup brushes, as this will enable you to create more precise beauty looks in the new year.

Wear Sunscreen Every Day

The sun is the primary cause of all facial wrinkles and fine lines, and the sun can do just as much damage in the winter as it does in the summer. For those who often skip the sunscreen, this is a resolution that your future self will definitely thank you for making, as it will do so much in preventing the many visible signs of aging.

Try Something New Each Month

Many people prefer to stick to their favorite tried and tested beauty looks, but let 2017 be the year that you experiment just a little bit more. Whether this means styling your hair in an unexpected way, or switching to a bold, statement-making lipstick, try something new for every month of 2017.

Although New Year’s resolutions can be difficult to stick to, these beauty resolutions are definitely worth some extra dedication. Once you have managed to keep your resolutions for the first few months of the year, they are likely to have then become a natural habit, and you will have no problems with continuing on with them in the future.
