A healthy, radiant complexion can often seem impossible to obtain, but this really does not need to be the case. From exfoliation to nutrition, here are a few tips to help you to achieve the skin of your dreams.

Exfoliation

Exfoliation is essential when it comes to a healthy complexion, and the key here is to be consistent when it comes to the amount that you exfoliate. Exfoliation sloughs away the dead skin cells that settle on the surface of the skin, which hugely contribute to a rough and dull complexion. This allows the fresh, young skin cells beneath to be revealed, while speeding up cell turnover, which is the rate at which new skin cells are created. There are a number of different methods of exfoliation, each with its own set of advantages, so even if one method has not worked for you, try researching the others to find what works best for your skin.

Brighten Up

While exfoliation is great for removing dead skin cells, the fresh skin cells underneath can also often do with a bit of a boost. There are many ingredients that can help with brightening the skin, but vitamin C is one of the best, as this can help with everything from age spots to sun damage. Vitamin C can be found in many different products, from serums to moisturizers, but try to choose one that combines it with other antioxidants for maximum benefit.

Hydration

Hydrated skin cells look plump and fresh, while dehydrated ones take on a dull, dry appearance. Even if you do not feel as though your body is dehydrated, it is extremely possible that your skin could do with a boost of hydration. To begin with, ensure that your body is sufficiently hydrated from within, by drinking plenty of water and eating a diet that is high in moisture-rich foods. You should also be hydrating your skin from the outside, using a hydrating moisturizer and hydrating facial masks at night.

Nutrition

The ingredients that you put into your body have a direct impact on the health of your skin, and while a healthy and balanced diet is key to radiant skin, there are certain skin-boosting foods in particular that you could be eating more of. Blueberries are one of these, as this antioxidant-rich fruit is bursting with vitamin A and C, and can help to clear acne and uneven patches on the skin. Kiwis are great for preventing wrinkles, while dark chocolate with a high flavenol content can keep skin hydrated while protecting it from sun damage. Salmon is another food that is great to add to your diet, as it is extremely rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which really nourish the skin, while avocados can really help when it comes to anti-aging.

A radiant, glowing complexion does not come naturally to many people, and does require a bit of work. From keeping your skin constantly hydrated to knowing which foods to eat, these tips are easy to follow and will make a huge difference to the health of your skin.
